Several of my friends and I ate at Juniper Saturday night and it was excellent! Unfortunately they were out of a few dishes we wanted to try, but the ones we got instead were phenomenal! Our server Kelley was also terrific! I would absolutely recommend eating at Juniper!

I am rating at two stars because external factors such as a fire alarm causing an evacuation at the end of our meal but this was by far the worse dining experience in all of the black hills. I made new years reservations for a table at the restaurant to treat my parents, and at no point during reservation did the website or any signage in either the hotel or restaurant lobbies was it mentioned there would be a fixed $125 four course menu for this outing. Only to find out about it when I was already seated at the table and too late in the night to eat any where else including their own paddy o’Neil’s . The food was all culinary art and minimal portion and taste. It must be noted that the fire stairways need to be marked with high visibility at the edge of each step because the solid grey steps was making it hard for my visually impaired parents to judge their steps impeading everyone else behind us in the narrow stairways from getting out in a timely manner. This is yet another oversight of Liv Hospitality and needs to be addressed and rectified

Had dinner her with my wife and some business friends. Juniper moved to Vertex and the food and atmosphere is simply amazing! I had the steak and it was cooked to perfection. I’ve never had a fancy salad, and this one was perfect! Everything that came out was delicious and no one complained!

The drinks are good also but service was a little slow. It was fine with us as it gave us time to take show our out of town guests the views, etc. Overall we had a great experience and I was very impressed!

Price is on the higher side, but absolutely worth it! Will definitely be back!

What a delightful place at the top of the Alex Johnson Hotel. Food was fabulous! I had the French bread with siracha honey butter and pecans as my appetizer. Then had the curry potato and leek soup. What a great twist on a traditional soup. Then had the white and red beet salad. Everything was so good! And Katie’s friendly demeanor made the evening so pleasant. Excellent service! Thank you for making dinner so enjoyable!

Had hoped to give a rating for food and drink, but we received ZERO service. We had 7:15 pm. reservations. We were seated, as requested, on the patio and that’s when any service ended. We watched others receive their orders, while others placed their orders, and no one came back to even take our drink order. When the people behind us, started smoking, it was too much. After 25 minutes of waiting, we gave up and left. Therefore, I cannot review the food or drink.

We had a reservation for 6:30, and opted for the rooftop seating. We ordered drinks and bread for the table, the drinks came promptly but the bread we ordered did not. Unfortunately being placed in a corner, it took us 45 minutes to place our meal order. The tables we could see inside seemed to have much quicker service. Eventually the bread was brought out around 7:30 and comped. The food was delicious – I had the halibut special, my partner had the ribeye. And the outdoor seating had decent views. But not sure it’s worth sitting out there if you’re especially hungry. Our server was apologetic about the bread, but not about the wait to order/eat in general.

Our seat was also directly under a speaker, the music was fine but conversations became difficult at points.

Food was good but the value was not there. We enjoyed our filets but at $62 they need to be amazing – they were slightly above average but not amazing. The sauce for the filet was sweet which is a little odd because it doesn’t balance with the filet (beef, salty, etc).

The service was excellent.

Our bill was over $400 for 4 people. Unfortunately the value isn’t there at that price. Best value was the oversized charcuterie board. The worst value is the overpriced wine by the glass. $18 for a glass that is marginally better than a Joel Gott cab seems extreme. We may be back for a drink on the patios but not for dinner. The ambience of the restaurant doesn’t make up for the high priced meal either. It’s not bad it just doesn’t make up for the cost.

Wonder if at a different location the ambience could be improved? If costs could be reduced?

My mom and I found this place luckily during a cross country trip and can’t believe how lucky we were to find it! My mom said, “I can’t imagine a better piece of salmon even in our final destination of San Francisco!” All 3 courses were perfection and the owner made the experience really joyful. He was so genuine and friendly that we wish we could stay. The restaurant itself is small and comfortable and not one person was on there phone as everyone was so enjoying their experience. If I can ever make it back to Rapid City, Juniper will be a must stop!!! I couldn’t recommend this place more.

Cute little restaurant with high quality food and great service. They have a rotating menu so it’s always fun, and delicious, to try out something new.
