Walking in the decor is of the origination of the town meaning that its a bit out of date.
Today I ordered the following:
1 Pancake
1 Biscuit
1 Cinnamon Roll
A Cup of Fruit
Side of Potatoes
The cinnamon roll was perfect in everyway.
From the soft flakey crust to the buttery glaze.
The pancake was a great cake.
The biscuit was a bit dry and crumbled the moment cut into it.
The fruit was definitely fresh and amazing.
The potatoes were thin and perfectly crispy.
The food hit a 4 out of 5 stars for me.
The customer service was lacking. I was not checked on and had to ask for my own refill as the waitress Abby was more worried about her neighbor and the love triangle that she is wrapped up in than helping her customers.
The was a man seated in front of me and no one even checked or gave him water for 15 until his girlfriend walked in.
Overall the food was hitting minus the biscuit being extremely dry. The customer service was lacking. I should have been in and out within an hour and I was in the restaurant for over an hour and a half because the staff was lacking. Not the cook the staff.
A few more outside tables in the warmer months may be beneficial and we may have left our hat there too but we’re not sure…. which is completely unrelated to the food!
I ordered the patty melt with fries, and it definitely delivered. The sandwich was hot, flavorful, and cooked just right. The fries were crispy on the outside and perfectly done, which is always a bonus because a lot of places miss the mark there.
What stood out most was the friendly service and comfortable atmosphere. It’s the kind of spot where you can sit down, enjoy a good meal, and feel like you’re eating at a neighborhood favorite rather than a chain restaurant.
If you’re passing through Fortuna or exploring Humboldt County, L’s Kitchen is a solid stop for a satisfying lunch and some genuine small-town hospitality.
As an aside the service was great. One server working the entire restaurant and she kept everything in queue and moving. Amazing hard worker!
