Got a hankering for rice bowls while roaming around and found this place. We arrived when they had just opened so it was still kind of warm inside. The food we got (karaage, ramen & rice bowls) all tasted great, aptly portioned and arrived in a timely manner. The staff was kind & quick.

This is a great Japanese restaurant that lives up to its authentic roots to Japan. The food is delicious and the service prompt. The dumplings are soft and soupy, edemame are seasoned right and ice cream tempura is perfectly cooked.
Will visit again.

Our favourite meal in New York.

Delicious meal and drinks, well priced and quick and friendly, chatty service.

Still thinking about the food and have since recommended to many friends.

Ambiance & Service was commendable. Server was really attentive. Gave me options and choices that fits my taste best. They gave me a seat that was supposed to be for 4 but rather they did adjust and made it for 2. That’s service right there. Thank you!

Since I have been into Ramen, I would be honest, pricing is a bit up there, but not surprised since the spot is right in Manhattan. I was maybe expecting a lot since the reviews were really good, not my best option but definitely something to try. The Takoyaki might have been more better if it had a lot of sauce or an option to have more sauce on it. A little bit dry for my tasting but good since tasted fresh.

Tonkatsu Ramen, I had the option to make it spicy by them giving me chili sauce on the side and it made me happy since I can’t consume too spicy food at the moment but would love to pour all that chili sauce in it to make it more spicier but great option they gave me.

I would recommend the place. They have a big space to accommodate certain big groups. It was a little bit warm inside. There’s bar seating too for beer drinkers definitely a good spot.

We ordered agedashi tofu to share and I ordered beef donburi rice for myself. We came at around 7pm but it was very empty. Food was served after 15 minutes which was not bad but not reasonable for a restaurant with only 3 guests.
The tofu was crispy and so creamy. It would be even better if more salt was added. The rice was okish, not a lot of beef and mostly rice. We ordered 2 donburi and they were put in 2 closed containers. The waitress was not even sure which is which.
Overall, not the best Japanese but not a bad place. I will not return tho because there are better options in NYC

Honestly pleasantly surprised with the quality of food here. We wanted to have a go at Tonchin but as it was too crowded, this was our alternative and it turned out super wonderful – to be honest a strong challenger to the Ichirans and Tonchins of NYC, at a lower price point. It’s a nice cosy setting including a bar counter with little Japanese decos hung around to bring everyone into a mini Japan setting. Broth of Ramen was not too thick and really fragrant. Portions were incredibly generous. Noodles were well done as well. Only downside would be that the pork is more on the fattier side which is not really my preference. We did try the Pork Buns as well and turned out to be a fabulous option! Lovely service from the staff all round – thank you!

If you’re in New York and craving authentic, mouth-watering ramen, look no further than Shokudo. This place is a hidden gem! The ramen here is by far the best ramen I’ve ever had — the broth is rich and flavorful, the noodles are perfectly cooked, and every bite is an explosion of taste.

But what truly sets Shokudo apart is the exceptional service. Woodlyne, the host, made our experience unforgettable with her warm and welcoming attitude. She really went above and beyond to make us feel at home, and her recommendations were spot on.

If you’re a ramen lover, this is a must-visit spot. 10/10 would recommend — I can’t wait to go back!

For my vegetarians out there, the vegetable miso ramen was amazing! Even my non veg partner loved it. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and friendly. The ambience was intimate and cozy, which I liked. Would definitely visit again!

Excellent, family owned, Japanese restaurant with natural ingredients. We had dumplings and a dish with rice and chicken and vegetables. It was really good. If you’re single, you sit at the bar and it’s not crowded so you could have a private conversation with your guest and there’s no one else sitting in your lap (we had Donburi)

“After watching the US Open, I came here for a bowl of ramen — such a treat. So glad this place stays open until 2 AM. The oyster ramen was excellent.”
