My fiancé and I visited NFA Avalon for the first time and, unfortunately, the experience fell short.
When we walked in, we let the hostess know we’d never been before and asked a few questions about how things worked and the menu. Her attitude was pretty nonchalant, and she didn’t really explain anything or offer help, even after we ordered.
The drinks tasted like straight tap water. When we asked about upgrading to bottled drinks (with an upcharge), we were told bottled drinks were only available with certain orders, so we ended up removing the drinks altogether.
As for the food, there was no lettuce available at this location, which was disappointing. The regular burgers lacked flavor overall. The patties are thin smashburgers, and the only real taste came from mustard, pickles, and the special sauce. The burgers themselves were also smaller than expected, even though we ordered doubles. The sides weren’t plated together or aligned well and toppings also came on the wrong burgers, which added to the underwhelming presentation.
That said, the burger with the Belgian waffle was the highlight, my fiancé enjoyed that one the most. Still, for the hype, the overall experience didn’t live up to expectations.
Might be worth another try for others, but this visit didn’t win us.

Grabbed a burger and fries before our movie. I ordered the single, that came with cheese, pickles, sassy sauce and mustard. I did add raw onions, but they gave me sautéed onions. No biggie. The burger was decent but not worth the money. It was a small patty! If you are hungry, make sure you order multiple patties or more than one burger. Personally, I don’t like multiple burger patties & would’ve preferred a bigger patty to satisfy the hunger. To me a single burger patty is more like a snack burger. Filling enough to curb the hunger for a short while. It’s a perfect size for the little kids though.
The fries were on the crisp side and Luke warm. I still ate them because I was still hungry and did not have time to ask for hot fries after waiting 15 minutes to get my food.
The service was good. No complaints. They brought my food out to me because I was sitting outside like most other people since the weather was really nice. I would definitely return fully knowing what to expect next time and I will plan accordingly.

I visited NFA Burger in Avalon and decided to try the double burger without buns so I could really taste and judge the meat. The flavor was very good, though I found it a little on the salty side. I also ordered a custard milkshake with banana and strawberry, which was creamy and refreshing. My friend got the triple burger with a fresh potato bun, and it tasted great with a nice balance. He paired it with a chocolate milkshake, which he really enjoyed. Overall, the food quality was high, and the experience was solid. I give this place 4 stars for good burgers, fresh buns, and tasty milkshakes.

The original Dunwoody NFA location is fantastic. Happy to know that this place is consistent! The double Billy’s classic and sassy fries are the must tries. The tater tots are a good option for a more crunchy preference.

I found out NFA stands for “Not Fooling Around.” I had Billy’s Classic – two hefty patties, Sassy Sauce, mustard, pickles and cheese. Delicious! Their shakes are made with a creamy custard. I got mine with an incredible peach puree. Heaven through a straw! This place is the gold standard for fast casual dining.

I hot a hot dog, some totes and a coke, paid around 15 bucks for it all so I wouldn’t say it was on the cheap side, but really worth it.
Food was ok really, nothing mind blowing but good enough that I went back home satisfied.

My fiancé and I aren’t even big burger eating people, but this is a place that we come to quite often. Service is always fantastic and the food always tastes very good. Definitely recommend.

Really great service. We had a couple of hiccups during our visit, but staff and the owner went out of their way to make sure our experience was great. I was surprised by the wonderful customer service.

I stopped at NFA Burger in Avalon last Saturday while I was in town for business, and it did not disappoint. I always make it a point to track down the best burger spots wherever I go, and this one is right up there at the top. Their smash burger is everything you’d want — crispy edges, juicy center, and packed with flavor. I ate outside, and the cool weather made it an even better experience for this time of year. Smash burgers are king, and NFA proves why.

For years NFA burger was this exceptional, but niche, burger joint that operated out of a gas station in Dunwoody. Not any more!!!
The new digs at Avalon are roomy, comfy and enable a proper sit-down enjoyment of the burger. As a long time patron, the TVs on the wall, the helpful wait staff and the ability to linger and talk while you enjoy every heavenly bite of burger bliss feels well earned and well deserved.
The star of the show remains fantastic!! The sassy sauce, the perfectly proportioned burgers, the awesome buns and the tots. Nothing has changed except the location!!!
If you find yourself in Avalon, and are feeling peckish, do yourself a favor and get you a NFA burger
