I ordered lunch today and was genuinely excited to try this place based on the reviews. A colleague ordered the wonton soup, which looked promising, so my expectations were fairly high.
Let me preface this by saying I truly enjoy Asian cuisine, both authentic dishes from various regions and well done American Chinese food. I understand and appreciate the difference between the two. Unfortunately, this experience fell short on both fronts.
Several reviews praise the pork fried rice, but what I received was simply rice, soy sauce, and a few bits of pork. Pork fried rice should have depth aromatics, egg, scallions, and proper wok flavor. This did not meet that standard.
The General Gau’s chicken was served cold and coated in a reddish, lightly spicy sauce, with the majority of the dish consisting of batter rather than chicken. It lacked texture, balance, and freshness.
The soups were equally disappointing. The wonton soup tasted like a highly saturated version of the original, lacking real flavor and nuance. The egg drop soup was similar…flat and uninspired.
I understand that American Chinese food is its own category, but even within that category, there are many establishments that execute it far better. This meal was not reflective of the praise it receives.
I was genuinely looking forward to this lunch and left very disappointed. I hope the owners read this review and take it as constructive feedback. Chinese food is a delicacy for many people, myself included, and it deserves care, balance, and pride in execution.
I truly hope the quality improves, because the potential could be there, but this visit missed the mark.
I hope the owners review this post

Do you know when you can absolutely tell when you are eating leftovers from the night/day before?!?! Well, that’s what happened when I ordered food very early in the day. Did they not get rid of it the day before and felt like it would be a good idea to just reheat it and give it to me? I’ve worked in restaurants my whole life, so I know what leftover food looks like. The batter wasn’t crispy and the rice wasn’t light and fluffy. It was very clumpy. I love Asian food and I know how it’s supposed to taste. And it’s supposed to be “cooked to order” also! This was not fresh! They will most likely respond and say “but it was cooked to order”……and I’m telling you, there is no way it was after what i saw and ate! None of it was! IYKYK! Unfortunately, this was a bad experience!

Best crab rangoons in the greater boston area! The flavor is so good! I used to come here frequently years ago, and I just remembered this place today and the food was just as I remembered! I hope this business continues to get the love they deserve

We tried after seeing a 4.8 rating on GH. My family loves Chinese food. We ordered a bunch of apps, rice and chicken w/veg. The chicken was good and the fried rice was what we expected. The apps/pupu were not good, dry, seemed old and the egg roll was gross. Never received the scallion pancakes we ordered.
I was expecting much better with such a high GH rating, it’s too bad. Maybe I just got them on a bad day.

Some of the best pork fried rice I’ve ever had. The French fries are also surprisingly good. Crab Rangoons are also fine, but the beef and broccoli was amazing! Great portions, great prices.

Rating only for the food. Unfortunately, the main dishes were not good. Lo mein was decent though. First time ordering from here and likely will not be ordering from here again. The sauces used for the main dishes can be improved.

I ordered shrimp chow mein & crab Rangoon. The lady acted confused, no English? I get back to the hotel totally starving after a long day.
I open the box & see nothing but a pile of nasty onions & bean sprouts, only 5 tiny shrimp & a mountain of day old fried rice with NO NOODLES!!!! Look at the picture & my Reciept.
I threw the food in the trash & ordered a pizza.
I just spent $22.50 on pure garbage. DO
NOT COME TO THIS PLACE!!! the food is total inedible trash & the lady will play dumb, not take your order correctly & just give you whatever they are trying to get rid of that day. Oh & BTW I speak vietnamese with some Chinese, but I shouldn’t have to speak chinese to order a plate of noodles in Boston.

Yummy food and good service. My major hack is to buy their “too good to go” mystery bag (through the app too good to go). It’s only $10 and you get a mix of whatever is left over for the night for a fraction of the cost. I’ve had several of their chicken and pork dishes and fried rice and soups through this. I highly recommend! It seems like a family run business, which is really nice to see as well.

My friend got me turned on to this local gem. Consistently good hot food, SUPER fast delivery, reasonably priced, excellent portions. ANNNNDDDD, they are so thoughtful about how they package the food so it reduces spillage and leaks. FYI – some of my favorite dishes is the Chicken Wonton Soup (the BEST I have ever had) and any of the lo mein and fried rice options…I need to stop getting the same things (they’re SO good, but I am starting to branch out). So happy to support this business! Just a simple no nonsense place.

Very mediocre food, In my opinion it is not worth it. I ordered on grubhub and one bland egg roll (I am assuming it was purched pre-made and frozen) was $4.40. Will never order from ere again. Quite disappointed.
