I had a good experience here. The food was fresh, didn’t take long to get to me. Server was just the right amount of attentive. And fairly priced.

Stopped by as I was passing through. Food was amazing I had the birria tacos and my daughter had the pescado soup; we would recommend both. The service was fine until we mentioned we’re from Minnesota, at which point the server turned off the house music and blasted kid rock from her phone. (After current events of the I.C.E. invasions in Minnesota) it felt intentional and disrespectful. I hope this review helps the establishment recognize and respect Mexican American customers in their own “authentic” Mexican restaurant.

I had an amazing experience at Jacalito Mexican Restaurant! The food was full of authentic Mexican flavors — especially the tacos, burritos, and quesadillas — with fresh ingredients and bold, savory tastes that really satisfied my cravings for Mexican cuisine. The portions were generous and well-priced, making it a great place for casual dining. The staff were friendly and welcoming, creating a comfortable and relaxed vibe throughout the meal. Overall, I’d give this place 5/5 stars for delicious food, great atmosphere, and excellent value.
✨ Highly recommended if you love real Mexican food in a cozy, local setting!

We were heading to Tallgrass and found this gem on the way. It was an absolute treat. The tres leches cake was the best I’ve ever had!

This is an average place. The food fills the belly. The salsa was good. The queso dip is cheese thinned with milk, no onions, or peppers in it. My chimichanga was not deep fried, and the tortilla was still doughy. Same for my enchilada. So I just ate the shredded chicken that was inside, and it was good. The rice was good, as were the refried beans. The enchiladas, burrito, and tamale plate the food was not hot and would rate it with 2 stars.

By far the worst “Mexican” food me or my partner have ever had. I feel bad writing this review, but hoping to save others from making the same mistake. We chose Jacalitos because it was the only Mexican restaurant around that seemed to serve alcohol and we were looking for dinner within an hour of where we were staying. The drinks were terrible, had one and wouldn’t order another. The menu is nothing like a normal Mexican restaurant, it had a lot of options but nothing you would order. I ended up ordering the chicken “cream cheese enchiladas”, it was just unseasoned chicken in a flour tortilla covered in American cheese with unseasoned beans and rice also covered in American cheese. Had to just pick out the dry chicken. Maybe this is considered good here, there weren’t many restaurants. We travel a lot and this was prob the worst restaurant food I’ve ever had, and the prices are high for a small Mexican restaurant in the middle of nowhere (over $60 for two meals & two drinks) Service was quick and the atmosphere is quaint, if you really like American cheese and you think buttered white bread is spicy, you might like it here.

We enjoyed a great lunch here. Prices are reasonable and the food was great. Service was prompt.
A word of warning:
If you want a blended margarita you have to ask for a frozen one. My wife said it was quite good.

I took some family members to Jacalio for lunch today, and it was a wonderful experience! The menu is vast, with good choices for every palate, and each item we ordered was fresh and delicious and hot, served quickly. Great conversation with the owner, too! We’ll be back.
