After searching for a place to eat in a different city, I saw there was a Bass Soul Food and I am a little familiar with their food in Ellenwood so I figured it would be the same. I did not notice till after I was told my total that Their prices are subject to change so I paid extra $2 for some salty cabbage, over cooked greens, watery Mac and cheese (use real cheese next time pls) and fluffy cornbread. Thanks for the attempt.

Staff was very friendly and the price was decent. The meal I got was very good. Mac n cheese was very cheesy…yay! Fried chicken was good, decent seasoning with crispy skin and made to order. Yams had a nice cinnamon and mildly sweet flavor and the cornbread was fairly good as well. I drove by and stopped in for 10 minutes…I’m glad I did!

Today I visited this restaurant for the first time. And definitely my last. They had poor selections. The macaroni and cheese taste like it was made with processed powder cheese, the cornbread was the worst I’ve ever had. It was dry, hard and crumbly and tasted horrible. They are very expensive and only give you a small portions . This was indeed a wasted 30 minutes drive. I suggest you look elsewhere this food is horrible.

The cornbread was okay. The collard greens were tough and were not seasoned well. The cabbage smelled good but they weren’t seasoned either. My fiance said his pork chop was dry. The Lima Beans were delicious.
I won’t be returning.

Great tasting food and nice people. The food selection changes depending on the day of the week. My favorite is the oxtails on the weekends. Some of the plates are above average in price. A slice of cake should not cost $4.99 although they are all good. You can easily spend $20 a person here. The hot water cornbread is always fresh and taste great. They have your usual choice of sunday dinner sides. The candied yams taste great. If you have a taste for soul food this is a good place to go.

I visited this establishment today(6/14/2020), and the service was ok. I was greeted by a y’all gentleman behind the counter. He was very friendly and welcoming. The young lady behind the counter (she had lemonade braids)wasn’t as welcoming. It was obvious that she didn’t want to be there. I ordered 2 fried pork chop plates and a meal for my daughter. The food was very bland and we refused to finish it. The collard greens, dressing, and Mac n cheese had no seasoning whatsoever. My bf’s pork chop wasn’t cooked all the way. We were highly disappointed with the food and I will not be back to patronize this location. I hate I wasted $40 for this so called “soul food”.

Wanted to support this black business. But the food was horrible. Macroni and cheese was not cheesy. Chicken and dumpling were very bland. And the dressing didn’t even taste like it should be for human consumption. My brother ordered a veggie plate and felt the same way. Mind you we had our food to go. So we drove back to the restaurant and wanted a refund because We have never tasted “soul” food this nasty. They call the owner and he tells us, NO REDUNDS but we can have food. So they gave us some fried chicken, that was greasy and flavorless. This restaurant will take your money and tell you to kick rocks if you don’t like our food.

In the last 2 years since I’ve been in this area, I have tried them a total of 8 times out of the maybe 3 1/2 were good. First the line staff is very rude especially the lady who run the cash register. Today 11/14/16 , I called my order in and went over the order 3x when I got there it still wasn’t right. After getting home still discovered that I was charged and still something was left out, and the MC was runny the cake is always good so disappointed . I did not want to waste time and gas to go back. Most of there customers are leaving going to Sarah near by good food all the time. I will admit this will be the last time I will spend my money here.

This place consistently disappoints. I thought maybe everyone has bad days.This restaurant has NEVER served me a turkey wing plate where the turkey wing wasn’t stale, burnt, or dry. Over it. I really did try because it’s super convenient to our home. If you want GREAT soulfood, take the drive to Annie Laura’s kitchen in Riverdale. Totally worth it! We know good food.
