Original Jerk is a Process. It’s not just jerk sauce. It’s all in how you cook it. How you add different elements to create that Jamaican jerk flavor of being slowly cooked over pimento wood. Dat Jerk uses our unique process to prepare our homemade jerk sauce, that’s slowly rubbed into our signature chicken and pork, then smoked to perfection. Creating jerk flavors that will send your taste buds buzzing.

Came here for the first time and ordered two bowls. Was asked dark, white or both for the jerk chicken. My friend and I said both. I go to the cash register and my order is 44 despite it saying it should be 16.25 each and it said we got the special.

We were not asked if we wanted the special or told that getting both was an up charge which was very unprofessional as someone who used to work in food service.

It was changed but the reason for my review is that when I get home I see one of my sides weren’t even added. Idk who the teen running the food was but he should really get more training as the guy at the cash register was great.

Walked in about an hour before closing— was greeted with a kind and enthusiastic “Welcome to Dat Jerk” from the customer services representative that handled my order, Kay. I let her know that it was my first time at this establishment, so she kindly explained the menu options, as well as her recommendations in detail. I appreciated her recommendations, and got a 1/2 Jerk Chicken bowl with plantains and rice & peas as my sides and a Curry Chicken roti. Both were full of flavor and amazing. Kay made sure I had all the sauces to try as well. My favorite was the DJ! What an excellent first experience at Dat Jerk, from the customer service as soon as you walk in, to the tasty food— can’t wait to go back. Thank you!

Had their ox tail, ( lacked the rich thick Gravy that is typically associated with ox tail ); jerk chicken ( hardly had any spice ); pork ( was dry ); plantains were good , curry chicken was good , rice and beans was ok . Was very pricy for a place which lacks ambience and gives food in a plastic bowl.

Happy to find a good jerk chicken place that’s reasonably located. Oxtail seasoned just right and falls off the bone. Mixed veggies is a good touch , given most other jerk chicken spots don’t have this kind of veggies as a side. The wraps are delicious and gigantic, definitely shareable.

The lady who took our order was very detail oriented. She took down our orders patiently by noting on the containers. Really appreciate her efficiency and accuracy. quality service like this needs to be recognized!

Price is comparable. Clean shop. Easy to find parking since it’s in Columbia Mall.

After strolling around the mall unsure of where to eat, we stumbled upon this place. I was not disappointed at all. The ordering process was easy and the staff were friendly and gave helpful recommendations on what to try and sauce options. I was not expecting much after trying many Jamaican restaurants in the area, but the food exceeded my expectations. The mac n cheese was phenomenal, the plantains had just the right amount of sweetness and weren’t too mushy, and the roti wrap was flavorful but refreshing with the added cucumbers (I appreciate them taking the skin off). I also tried the rice n peas with gravy, the cabbage, and two of their sauces, which were all flavorful and delicious. Yes, the food/some sauces will be spicy, it’s Jamaican food. If you are sensitive to spice just ask and I’m sure they will help guide your choices. Regardless, this is a must try, not too expensive for the amount of food you get, and it is a great addition to the area. I will be back soon to try their other items!

I have to give a special shoutout to Alexander at the front—he’s truly amazing! Always smiling, super friendly, and just brings such a positive vibe every single time. It makes the experience even better when you’re greeted with that kind of genuine happiness. Great food and great people Can’t beat it. Highly recommend

Customer service wasn’t the best. Asked the young lady to taste the oxtail, as I wanted to ensure it was soft before purchasing it , she gave me a sample without a toothpick to taste it. She seemed annoyed to me as well. Food wise, not the best to me, As a Jamaican I have had much better. Food lacked seasoning, rice and pease didn’t seem to have coconut milk. . Great atmosphere. I wouldn’t recommend to authentic Jamaicans. Try them out in Waldorf MD… better tasting food, far better customer service.

The servers were extremely friendly, professional and polite. Food was good. Thought we ordered take-out, my daughter and I ended up eating in. The address might not lead you to the storefront. It was very hard to find the store from the address on one of the food delivery apps. It’s definitely located in the mall. There are options to sit in or outside. Parking was a bit hard to find on a weekend. Great food.

Had oxtail with rice and plantains. The food was authentic and delicious. However, the oxtail was a bit tough, certainly not fall off the bone as others have said. While I understand oxtail has gotten pricey, for 24 bucks more than 4 small pieces would have been nice. I’ll eat here again, but will try other dishes. Service was fast and excellent.
