Made a return visit for myself and a first time visit with my partner and I must say, the service was absolutely amazing! However, I have two qualms food wise that left us a bit disappointed. The first was that the rice was either undercooked or a type of rice that isn’t typically used for sushi. Not sure if it was long grain but I tasted crunch in it that wasn’t the sesame seeds. Needless to say I was disappointed by the sushi that I had been bragging about as being the most authentic in all Laredo. Second qualm was a bento box lunch special that contained a beef and broccoli and aforementioned crunchy rice. The beef was cut incorrectly and it made it hard to chew in a non jerky type of manner. The vegetables were grilled to absolute perfection… however the main event being cooked incorrectly and in such large chunks made it hard to maneuver with chop sticks. Also ordered the gyoza fried as an appetizer that was superb and had the perfect crisp and also the miso soup that is always served hot and so very full of flavor. I was underwhelmed by the entrees and even noticed they had many lunch orders they were preparing… maybe that was why the dine in cuisine lacked, but either way, the service was so very amazing. I don’t know if a I’ll be returning and it was sad to have to go to Burger King next door for lack of want and satiety. I’m at a loss for suggesting this place for a much needed lunch date with my husband.

I write this review with the upmost respect to the owners. This establishment was the worst sushi I’ve had in all of Laredo. Keep in mind I’ve been to the hole in the wall sushi places that even sell tacos… keep in mind we placed the order in store, not over the phone.
For starters, the quality of product was no where near fresh. We had ordered a crispy tuna roll and it honestly tasted like it was left out from an order, refried and then sold to us. (I’ve worked in the food industry for 20+ years and have seen this disgusting act done plenty of times, because owners don’t want to “throw away product”.) The reason I could tell was that the rice was extremely hard and the taste was extremely fishy. So much that even the sauces didn’t cover up the taste and smell.
Secondly, what this establishment is charging for 6 and 5 pieces of sushi. Both supposedly being “premium rolls”. $15 for 5 pieces and $13 for 6. I understand the prices such as sushi madre because of their quantity but more than that their consistency with quality and attention to detail.
At this moment I don’t recommend this establishment with all due respect. Maybe a bad day for people who are cooking, but that inconsistency with quality is what causes you to lose customers.
The ambiance was really nice and low light, more laid back like of a few places in Chicago that stood out to me and the employees were B+.

The only reason I am giving 2 stars was because the food was very good. The problem is that we waited too long to receive our meal. I ordered the 8 piece sashimi chef‘s choice. You would think it took so long to get to me that he would’ve put a few extra pieces but no, it was exactly 8 pieces and they were very small and it was overpriced, my wife got two rolls. The whole meal was $125. unfortunately, we left there not very happy

Sushi was delicious and the staff was amazing. The gyoza was perfect and I loved the chicken fried rice. Small dining room about 9 tables. They do offer beer and saki.

First time & Not impressed, service was not hospitable; we were rushed to order, eat and pay. Food was freshly made but tasteless , overtly priced . We had a mixed rice and 2 rolls , 2 teas, they don’t have complementary water you have to buy it, no miso as an entry either : the bill was over $65 dollars. Sorry to say we won’t be back. And the owners were so obnoxious loud & rude. The waitress was nervous & considerate: seems like she sensed our discomfort.

Dead smack on the border, this city’s aorta is culture. The spectrum of humanity in all its good and bad can be found here like an unchecked demigod’s iteration of Neapolitan ice cream. All are represented here. With that said, it is with no disrespect that I say, Hokkaido is the flag ship for eastern delicacy that we have and mind you this is not an easy decision. So let’s break it down.
They offer your usuals like lo mein, sushi, ramen and fried sea denizens. Let me tell you what you want to order. Go for the “Japanese Pizza”, the skewered meat, little mermaid and her friends mingling with veggies in a light savory sauce clay pot steam bath (there are only two options with different faces, you can’t go wrong). Wash it down with hot sake, Kirin and then respect your sweet buds with their mochi (Japanese ice cream) and do three flavors. I did strawberry, green tea, and mango. Pop music plays on the speakers. Limited seating . Limited hours. No adventure is without uncertainty. Go.

Food was extremely delicious. We enjoyed the beef and noodles with peanut sauce, spicy beef ramen, gyosas and house fried rice. The house fried rice was a mound of rice with beef, chicken and shrimp, the latter being the best part of the rice with delicious fried egg pieces mixed in. The peanut sauce noodles were delicious and had much flavor and the presentation was beautiful. The spicy beef ramen was true to its name, so much flavor and taste, the beef and egg adding so much savory flavor to the noodles. The staff were friendly and attentive and hard at work in establishing their guests comfort. Will return regularly and continue to try everything on the menu. Highly recommend for fans of delicious food in large helpings, you won’t leave here hungry after enjoying their delicious noodles and rice.

The food is like no other and simply amazing!!
Legend has it that the cook/owner is from New York. He brings a new taste to Laredo that has people coming back on a regular basis.
The ramen is not only filling, but will absolutely rock your taste buds!
The sushi; soft, savory and full of flavor in every bite! You can definitely taste the freshness!
From the presentation to the service, its one of a kind and top tier!

First time trying a cold ramen and I was very impressed with the flavors it came with, the beef itself was so well marinated and tender,
Also ordered 7pc sashimi and it tasted just as good as it looks! I will definitely be coming back often and will be recommending the place!
If you are looking for authentic tasty sushi come here! <3

This is absolutely the best Asian cuisine in town with a chef from Japan making the sushi dishes himself. Quality is to die for and the atmosphere is perfect for a personal dinner
