My Grandfather “Chuck” served in the Navy during WWII as a A&P mechanic, After serving his country he became a corporate pilot. During his time as a pilot he flew many aircraft. He traveled around the world 6 plus times. He flew during the 1950’s before retiring in the early 70’s. Whenever you asked Chuck what he was doing, His reply was always “just piddling”. He soon traded flying for cooking and began piddling in the kitchen. All of us grandchildren loved his cooking, especially his fries. We use Chuck’s World Famous Hand Cut Fry recipe to this day here at Chuck’s, always cut fresh in house daily.

Atmosphere: Cute restaurant with a bar… It’s definitely more restaurant style than bar style which is one reason I didn’t visit sooner. However this place is definitely family friendly.
Food: onion rings (delicious, recommend), the pizza (delicious, recommend), steak bite salad (wasn’t a fan of the steak, the cut and the seasoning were not my favorite), chicken tenders (delicious, battered in house), sweet potato fries and tater tots (best), regular fries were not our favorite side. I noticed many people were ordering burgers and that’s what I would like to try next time. I would definitely like to try some more menu items to be able to have better recommendations.
Service: Our waitress was Lilly, the owner’s niece… She was phenomenal. Friendly, prompt, and overall a great waitress!

I’ve loved them in the past. However, we were very disappointed this time. Although the burger my wife had was freshly made, it seemed to lack flavor. The fries are also freshly made, but none were crispy. My wife loved the homemade mayonnaise. She said it tasted like her grandma’s from back in France. My steak fingers were nothing grand. To me, bland. I’m not sure I’ll be back without some improvement.

This was awesome food. The sweet tea was good too. The only issue I had was the music. It felt like was listening to Dixie Chicks radio and it just didn’t vibe with my burger & rings. If Chuck is using Spotify, I recommend the playlist called “Cowboy Barbershop” or “Southern Type Music”.

12 dollar lunch in 10 mins . They were sweet employees and the food was delicious! The collaboration of the toast with the sandwich was a flavor blast in your mouth Fries were so good . Honestly, if you didn’t know it was here, you would pass it up like we almost did. It reminded me of a 60’s diner with a modern feel.
The menu is pretty extensive, much more so than we would have thought. Generally, in a small place like this, you will only have a few options, not so here.
We, of course, ordered our norm a burger and Philly. The place was pretty busy, so we enjoyed the atmosphere and watched some trivia idiot TV.
My burger was massive. I couldn’t believe all the onion rings and other toppings on there. This is probably a first for me. The young lady was busy, so I started eating my burger without any mayo at all. It was so good without it I wanted to eat the whole thing. Then, you add the rings and fries. Hog heaven! It was a stupendous burger! Thr Philly was just as good as the burger. The meat was tender and juicy. Every time the sandwich was picked up, it was so full meat, and juice fell out.
The onion straws and fries were just as good as the sandwiches. All around a fantastic meal.

Was recommended to check this place out, so we came for a Sunday lunch. It has an old school diner feel, which I love!
We got an appetizer of the Texas Tumbleweeds which were hand cut, thin, hand battered onion rings. They were tasty, but I felt they needed some added seasoning as they were a little bland. Unfortunately, the waitress forgot to put it in, and we received these AFTER we got our food. The whole point of an appetizer is to get it BEFORE the meal. Epic fail there!!!
I tried the chargrilled Old School cheeseburger with added bacon, and it came with homemade fries. The chargrilled flavor of the patty was very good. The bacon was thicker cut and very tasty. The French fries were good, but not very hot when they reached the table.
My wife got the Chicken Stack sandwich and she replaced the fries with a salad. The sandwich was very good, the salad not so much. It had quite a bit of lettuce that was brown and old. Rotten basically, so that was a bummer. And, the sandwich comes with a huge mound of onion rings, so I wish the waitress would have mentioned that and then I wouldn’t have experienced the fiasco with the App.
Overall, the experience was decent, and the food was good enough for a second visit.

were looking somewhere new to eat and happened to bump into it….definitely did not dissapointed. my son in law, daughter and even my 1.5 yr old granddaughter enjoyed it. burgers were delicious and juicy…and pizza was great!! lady taking care of us very polite and made sure to make us feel welcomed. definitely recommend it…

Driving through Bulverde around lunchtime so Google searched for a good place to eat. Fortunately, Chuck’s was one of the top results. Wife & I love onion rings & fried mushrooms so ordered both. Oh my these were right at the top of best we’ve had! Mushrooms were fried perfectly with a nice crispy batter that let the mushroom flavor shine and served w/ranch for dipping. Could have eaten the whole order but needed to save room for our onion rings and burgers. Next came a platter with a huge pile of thin crispy rings (“Tumbleweed Onions”), light and great flavor, no additional salt & pepper needed. Next up, our burgers – wife ordered the “Chuck” burger – it came perfectly grilled to the requested medium-rare. After the first bite, “maybe the best burger I’ve ever had’! I ordered the “Texas” burger – crumbled blue cheese, 2 big strips of bacon, lettuce, tomato and a “stack of Tumbleweed Onions, Texas Big”! They weren’t kidding, the burger was big and was stacked with a huge pile of Tumbleweed Onions as big as the very large appetizer order we got plus it included their house cut fries. The meal was great! We ended up taking home two very full to-go boxes for dinner tonight plus got a piece of their Praline Pecan Bundt Cake to-go, smelled great and served hot but we were too full to try a bite, will be dessert tonight. Service was great, we will be back to try other items on the menu with great expectations.

Wonderful family owned burger place. Food is great and atmosphere was so comfortable and laid back. The burger I had was so good and I’ll be coming back to try more menu items. Outdoor door patio and live music coming soon. Sue, the manager, also known as mom is amazing and talk to us like friends. Our waitress Lily was so kind and made sure we were happy with our meal. Thank you Sue, Chuck and Lily for making us feel so welcome.
