Tony’s is a little slice of Italy in Mays Chapel. You will just love the New York décor – names of New York Subway stops on the wall as well as vintage pictures. There are separate ordering and dining areas. You ordered at the counter, and they bring your food to you. The menu is quite extensive covering everything from Appetizers, Pizza Man Specialties, Chicken Wings, Soups, Sides, Fresh Salads, Cheesesteaks, Classic Subs, Old Time Favorites (think pastas), 21 different pizzas, and desserts. They offer Lunch Combo Deals starting at $7.99. You will definitely find something here you like. There are booths that seat 2 or 4, counter seating, and tables for 4. They do not take reservations. They do a brisk carry-out business.
We met friends for dinner on a Saturday evening. First, we like BYOB with no corkage fee. They were very busy, so we were glad that we came a little early so that we only had to wait a few minutes to secure a booth. My husband and I split a Prosciutto & Mozzarella Classic 10-inch N.Y. Sub, which was loaded with thinly sliced Italian prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, Roma tomatoes, fresh basil, extra virgin olive oil, mayo spread, and a drizzle of balsamic with a side order of French fries. This is truly a sub full of flavor. Our friend started off with an Arancino. If you are wondering what an Arancino is, it is an iconic Sicilian rice ball, typically stuffed, breaded, and deep-fried to a golden crisp that has been around since the 10th century. Here at Tony’s, they are a flash fried rice ball, stuffed with ground beef, peas and mozzarella with tomato sauce on the side. He also had a Stromboli (a pizza dough stuffed and rolled with pepperoni, sausage, ham, fried onions, green peppers, pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese.) His wife enjoyed the Eggplant Parmesan (three pan-fried Italian eggplant pieces covered with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, baked to perfection, served with spaghetti.) Both dishes were generous in size. We all thoroughly enjoyed being transported to Italy this evening.

My first time trying this restaurant and I thought that the pizza was really delicious but a tad bit pricey in my opinion. 16 inch pizza, a large fry and three drinks came to about $40. But the pizza was really good and wasn’t really greasy/oily like most places. I’ve been back since for carryout (spent about $25) and the pizza taste just as good at home than it did eating it directly at the pizzeria. The restaurant itself is kind of small, so really large groups may have a tough time getting situated. Restrooms were clean and the staff was really nice. My husband and I order from Tony’s often and love it. Recently, we tried out their catering for a holiday family gathering of 25. Everything was wonderful (four types of pizza, two pasta dishes, two salad trays, and cannolis (of course)). When the food arrived – right on time – it presented wonderfully and was hot! The pizza was bland and watery, like literally dripping. I don’t mean greasy- I legitimately mean WATERY. Maybe because of the mushroom topping? Like did you guys not expel the excess water from the (unseasoned) mushrooms or something? It was nasty. The sausage topping was tasty, but note that it’s the slices and not crumbles. This was delivery, so I can only speak to the food and not the ambience. The onion rings were delicious though, and my friend really loved her pasta dish. I honestly feel bad for all the people who are saying it’s amazing pizza because that means they’ve never had amazing pizza. I’m sure one without the bland wet mushrooms would be better, but it still could never be great because the sauce itself wasn’t awesome and the sauce itself was also watery. It felt like they dumped it out of a can. I don’t even know if they make their own crust. Sorry to do this, but for the actual best NY thin crust pizza in town, go to Baltoz in Towson. It’s expensive, but worth it for a treat, and you’ll get homemade crust and incredible, flavorful sauce with a proper texture. I wish I could give Tony’s another chance, but that pizza was unacceptable.

Tony’s of NY is always a great stop. The food is consistently fresh and really tasty—you can tell they care about quality. If you enjoy genuine extra greasy NY-style pizza, this place is for you! This is a counter-service, BYOB restaurant where they will bring your meal out to you.
When I walked in on a Friday evening, the restaurant was about half full with about a dozen workers in the kitchen. Two workers at the counter took my order right away.
I only had to wait about 15 minutes for my pepperoni with extra cheese 16” pizza to come to my table. Be careful! Pizzas can slide off the pizza stands easily.
The pepperoni here has a spicy, sausage-like flavor. Despite the unique quality of the pepperoni, I found my pizza delicious with or without the powdered garlic topping.
My only qualm with Tony’s is that the crust appeared pre-fabricated (not freshly made). Despite the unusual uniformity of the crust, I still found my pizza outrageously delicious. The counter staff even waved goodbye.
There are only six small outside tables available. However, if you can grab one during pleasant weather, this makes a great place to pass the afternoon.
I’d recommend trying Tony’s whether you want to carry-out or dine-in.
