What a special place. Ring fortunate enough to visit Japan several times I love what this team has done to try and recreate an Izakaya experience. We visited a Japanese restaurant recently and everything was excellent. The sushi was very fresh and delicious, and the ramen was honestly the best I’ve ever had – rich, full of flavour, and perfectly cooked. I also tried the Japanese lemon tea, which was absolutely perfect and very refreshing. Highly recommended, we’ll definitely be back!

Best sushi I’ve personally had, 100% the best in Ipswich. All the fish tasted so fresh and just melts in your mouth. Chef said the fish selection varies a lot, we were lucky enough to try fresh blue fin tuna belly Very fairly priced and such amazing service. Feels so comfortable and the atmosphere is so welcoming. Zed and Fabio took such good care of us and we had a wonderful night. Can’t wait to see their passion and hard work pay off, we will be customers for life.

We randomly decided to go for sushi and tried the Tokyo platter and the Prawn & Vegetable Tempura! We were blown away by the presentation, quality and sheer passion poured into each dish.

Update: 3 weeks later – We went back to celebrate a special occasion and this time we had the Prawn & Vegetable Tempura followed by the Bushido Sushi Combo. A phenomenal slection and range of exceptionally crafted Sashimi, Nigiri, Gunkan, Hosomaki and Uramaki.
Fabio is truly a Master Sushi Chef.

Truly a hidden gem within the streets of Ipswich. Offering a quaint and cosy Japanese inspired atmosphere within the vintage architecture found in long standing buildings of Ipswich.
Greeted by incredibly professional, polite and enthusiastic staff, the welcome was warming and a great sign of things to come.
The waiter was attentive and explained through if anything was missing from the menu. (Another great sign that things sold out here)
Offering a blend of Japanese inspired cocktails and beers, there were great choices for drinks.
Whilst ordering, the knowledgeable waiter was more than happy to answer questions we had on the food and even recommended a dish that he personally thought would be a hit, based on something else I had ordered. Big praise for this as this rarely happens ever!
The food, well, the food was immaculate. Full of incredible flavours that felt authentic to the core. We ordered as a group a range of different dishes, ranging from ramen, bao buns, gyoza, maki roll and edamame. Every single mouthful was delicious. For those that have big appetites, you won’t be disappointed by the range of flavours available from such a small venue.
The bartender was incredibly kind also, allowing us as a group to try some incredible drinks, such as midori and Yuzu sake which was way better than any midori or sake I had experienced before.
When it came around to the bill, which I’m sure people check for, it was a little on the pricier side. But please don’t let this stop you. The quality of the service, food and atmosphere is worth every penny. And if you’re going in for a smaller bite, the prices are a bargain for such great quality.
Bishido was one of the best culinary experiences I have enjoyed in Ipswich and I’d go back in a heart beat. Thank you for such an incredible evening.

My Wife said it was the best sushi she has ever had. All of the food was amazing, melt in the mouth. Our new favourite Ipswich. If you haven’t been check it out. Reserve as it’s cosy and gets busy quickly

We went tonight for a special set menu with a Japanese Chef flown in specially who came to present a 7-8 course menu for an eye watering £90. The cost of the menu wasn’t made clear. The guests on the next table thought it was £19. We sat on a corridor, waited half an hour for any service. Our table was on an outdoor corridor the width of the table facing a door. The waiter had to walk side ways to serve us. The food was mediocre. Disappointing. £90 is a lot for Suffolk/Ipswich. We have no problem paying for quality. One of the waiters even commented that diners should never have been put on the outside corridor. When I asked the chef where he was from he wouldn’t answer. He had a very tired jacked with a very washed out logo which was an academy in Europe. I think the whole thing was a scam! I spoke to the owner whose response was come back and I’ll give you 40% discount. I suspect their normal menu is good. This was a money making exercise wrapped up as something very special and fell very very short! Don’t be fooled.
