My husband and I stopped in for brunch/lunch on a Saturday, we were so glad we did! The ambiance was peaceful. Our server was courteous and helpful, I apologize for not remembering her name. I ordered the Quiche with broccoli and heirloom tomato and salad with lemon dressing. Husband had the Conductor’s plate. Our food was very good, we hope to return one evening for dinner!

Went for Valentine’s Dinner. They had a Prix Fixe Menu for $80pp. First issue was the reservation…they didn’t have it despite us having multiple phone conversations with the hostess to make it over a week ago. They did find us a spot, so they made good on that.

Out waitress came to greet us and we asked if they had a bar we could order drinks from. She said they did, but not tonight. Wine only. We don’t drink wine, so that was disappointing. They did offer us a few beers to choose from, but we stuck with non-alcoholic drinks.

She then let us know we needed to order all courses up front so they could “keep it rolling”. We complied and they did exactly that…we sat down at 5:20p and we’re done with 5 courses by 6:40p. In several instances, we were finishing up a course when the next arrived. Also found it odd that we were asked to “save our silverware” after each course.

The food was good from start to finish. The pastry chef was the highlight for us. The citrus cheesecake and heart cakes were amazing as were the tempered chocolates that came with the bill.

For a $200+ meal for two, they need to step up the service a bit. Too many other high end options available in that range to not provide top level service. Don’t rush me, let me order a drink from the bar, etc.

Food was delicious, we had lamb and halibut special, and dessert was outstanding ! Toffee pudding and sour cream poppy seed ice cream and strawberry red wine sorbet were fantastic !
Our waitress Sofia did a great job!

My husband I found this inn just by search and are so grateful. We agree our excellent server Richard that this is a hidden gem in Ashland. We moved to the area from NOVA a year ago and are still in search of our new favorite restaurant. All the dishes were so pretty and delicious, the ambience was classy, the service was definitely the first class. We are so happy we found this place!

The new “Market” coffee shop at the Henry Clay Inn is a very welcome addition to downtown Ashland. Great muffins, etc and in house pastry chef, very comfortable, spacious, and warm inside space, beautiful giant old front porch, and Ashland barista veteran Bart dishing up delicious coffee drinks from early morning until 2pm every day.

Whent in for brunch. Hardly anyone there but the slowest service I’ve ever had. Not much on the brunch menu and on Valentine’s weekend didn’t even make quiche. The French toast was only halfway cooked and not desirable. The eggs benedict with crab was MEH. Too overpriced for what you get

I’ve dined on the front patio twice for brunch and it was delicious. Feels like a walk back in time to sit at such a grand place. Service has been dreadfully slow. Staff is attentive but don’t eat here if you need to catch a train.

Would not recommend. Food quality poor, very slow service with only one waitress on a Saturday during a brunch period. Our seating was early, at 11:00.

New menu so they need to make sure the staff gets to try everything to suggest stuff but food and drinks were good!
