Hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had!
I found this restaurant through a TikTok video that mentioned they serve barbacoa de chivo (tender goat meat) on weekends—so I decided to take my dad here for Father’s Day. We ordered the birria tacos with handmade tortillas, and let me tell you… those tortillas are a 10/10—absolutely worth it!
My dad got the ribeye, and he gave it a solid 10/10 as well. Of course, we came for the barbacoa, and it did not disappoint. Words can’t describe how good it was tender, flavorful, and unforgettable.
The drinks were also amazing. My mom loved the tamarind, and I personally went for the Jamaica. Both perfectly refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness to complement the food.
To top it all off, we had the homemade flan and churros absolutely delicious.
But what really made the experience even better was the outstanding service. Shoutout to Alex and Paulina for taking the time to explain the menu and make sure everything was perfect from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Their hospitality was top-tier.
This is a family-owned Mexican restaurant that I would 100% recommend to anyone in the area—or even if you have to make a little trip. It’s so worth it!

Sometimes the best meals are born out of a delivery mix-up; and that was exactly the case with our recent experience at Taqueria El Chiltepin. What started as a frustrating DoorDash snafu (where our food arrived suspiciously packaged as Wendy’s) quickly turned into a culinary redemption story, thanks to the kindness and professionalism of the team behind this Bronx gem.
Upon calling the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by Paulina, whose tone and hospitality instantly shifted our mood.
She not only apologized mind you this had nothing to do with their restaurant; but invited us to come directly to the restaurant to receive the correct order. Once we arrived, the energy and ambiance of El Chiltepin swept us into what felt like a brief getaway to the heart of Mexico; rich with authenticity, vibrant decor, and a sincere sense of community.
While picking up our original order, we couldn’t help but be enticed by the menu and ended up ordering three more items, bringing our total to five:
* Three orders of Cheese Flautas
* One order of Steak Nachos
* One Horchata beverage
The Flautas were crispy, golden, and generously filled, satisfying both in flavor and portion. Upon chatting with Alex; who matched Paulina’s level of graciousness; we discovered we had been over-ordering in previous visits.
We had been getting three-piece Flauta orders at $30 each, when we could’ve gotten five sticks instead. His transparency and care in educating us on the best way to order not only saved us money but solidified our trust in the business.
The Steak Nachos were a savory standout; freshly fried chips loaded with seasoned steak, gooey cheese, and a medley of toppings that didn’t overwhelm. And the Horchata? Smooth, creamy, and perfectly spiced; an ideal refresher to top off the meal.

Delicious food and drinks ! The waiter was so nice! Very clean place ! There handmade tortillas reminded me of Mexico! We had the ribeye. Shrimp cocktail. Pizza birria. For drinks the pineapple fresh water was the best one. Would definitely be back on the weekend to try their Chivo!

Wow…I rarely write reviews, but the food and customer service was so good, that I just had to! The beef birria tacos were sooooo delicious- From the texture down to the flavor. It’s a must have!!!

Handmade tortillas, can’t go wrong with that. Tacos and quesadilla are the real deal. The tamarindo and horchata is great. The service was great.. just note: if you plan to eat in; it only has a couple of tables.

I have been ordering from this place since they first opened and it used to be one of our favorites but I have to say the last few times we have ordered their birria taco basket we have been very disappointed. They changed the presentation to a very sloppy one. They literally just dump 20 tacos the sloppiest way possible, open faced, into a tray with the cheese melted all over. You can’t even grab one individually without pulling the cheese from the other tacos underneath. You literally turned 20 tacos into tostadas. They used to be delivered individually rolled and placed next to each other instead of stacked. Hopefully you will fix this, in the meantime I will not be purchasing again.

Tried their birria tacos once and had it 3 more times that week. Food is AMAZING & fresh. You can taste that they use quality ingredients. Even their juices aren’t too sweet, just natural. The customer service is honestly so refreshing, always a pleasure even when they’re extremely busy. Probably won’t be going to any other Mexican spot for a while

If you love to try new foods this cute little spot has authentic Mexican cuisine and its presentation along with the staff was very inviting. Keep in mind they don’t have much seating but that’s to be expected when you start from the ground up. Will be going there often with the wifey.
