Service was nice and friendly, but it took us nearly 10 mins before we even got water. Another 20 mins before our app order was taken. We came in at 8pm and place was only half full….after we ordered the food took a good while to come out as well. Waitress also took our plates without asking and still had some appetizers left which was extremely odd, but it was too late to ask her to set it back down when she stacked them.

Scallops were well seasoned and the sauce it sat in was delicious. Great sear, but slightly overcooked and a bit too much chew.

Calamari was a nice change of pace with lightness of breading. Not overcooked, great mix of flavors.

Branzino was perfectly cooked and nice light crispy skin. Decent flavor, but mild. No Wow factor on this one.

Octopus was delicious! Great size, great char, not overcooked. Well seasoned and not too salty.

Tagliatelle was perfectly al dente with good mussels, shrimp was a little underwhelming. Sauce was super citrusy and interesting to try but likely not a reorder from us.

Overall was a super cute, good atmosphere, on the higher end place. But missing the wow factor and excellent service for a 5.

Nice atmosphere, food was delicious, server was very friendly and knowledgeable of menu. Wait staff was very attentive with water refills. Would definitely come back!

Star only taken because after dinner we sat for a pretty long time before dessert order and to get check after dessert. We were there for 2.5 hours as a 2 top. To add I also realized the next day we didn’t get the salad with ‘the feast’

This was our first time here, but we heard good things. The atmosphere was beautiful. They redid the whole restaurant from the previous.
We met our kids and grandchildren for dinner and I have to say everything was fabulous! From the wine to dessert and the birthday dessert for my husband. I’ve been to Greece a few times and the food was very authentic and fresh. This will be our new favorite in Mt. Pleasant and we can’t wait to eat at the sister restaurant.

This was our favorite dining experience during our entire Charleston visit. From Nick’s warm and friendly care to each incredible dish we had the pleasure of trying. Delicious appetizers but the Saganaki is a must order! The Giorti section gives you a chance to share with your group some delicious cuisine. The branzino BLEW US AWAY! Do yourself a favor and add this to your charleston itinerary and make sure to ask for Nick!

This place is one of the best fish restaurants that I’ve tryed in US.
Very good food ! Very good fish and seafood.
The menù is not very large but you can find all you need to enjoy!
My full branzino was awesome.
Also the price is not bad I mean expensive but not overpriced.

I chose Taverna for dinner this evening because I had not had the pleasure of dining here yet and because this is the only restaurant in Mt. Pleasant that has 4.9 out of 5 star reviews.
We were seated immediately and had service within a couple of minutes.
Our server, Jack was friendly and prompt for our ordering.
We started with the escargot appetizer and it was some of the best I’ve ever eaten! My son that has never tried escargot decided to try it and he loved it!
We ordered the 8 oz filet, the lamb porterhouse and the skirt steak with lump crap meat. We also had Truffle frites and goat cheese potatoes for sides.
Everything that was put on the table was absolutely amazing! We all shared our plates and we all loved every bit of it!
This was our first time at Taverna but we will definitely be back very soon to experience another delicious dinner!
Thank you Jack for an amazing experience! See y’all soon!

Google won’t let me leave another review for the same place so I will add on to this one…
My son chose Taverna tonight for his 15th birthday and once again we had the most amazing experience! Anthony was our server again and he was just as great as the last time. Thank you Anthony! We try to order different things every time we eat at Taverna because in the past everything is so delicious. This evening our birthday boy ordered grilled octopus because he has never had it and oh my it was so delicious! I highly recommend the octopus if you’ve ever wanted to try it.
We also had a dozen raw oysters, the NY strip, the whole flounder and the Greek salad. All cooked to perfection! Thank you Taverna for another superb experience!

Branzino was fantastically prepared. Our waitress was incredible. Don’t sleep on the octopus calamari ceviche. Balance of acidity and heat made it a Mediterranean bar snack staple in my book

My family and I had dinner at Taverna last night for the second time in 2 weeks! It was so delicious the first time, we had to go back to try some different items on the menu. We were not disappointed! Everything that was put on the table was amazing! The escargot is probably the best I’ve ever eaten! All of the food was super fresh and came to the table pretty quick. Our server, Anthony was great as well! He was very friendly and attentive to our table and our questions. The owner, Dimitri, even came by the table to talk to us for a couple of minutes. Just another great experience at Taverna and we will most definitely be back for another wonderful dinner!

The food was spectacular and the service was even better. Our server Nick was fantastic and truly made our night a wonderful experience with friends. Our friends who are local to Charleston had been wanting to try this restaurant. So it was a perfect opportunity when we were in town to make reservations and enjoy your family style Mediterranean meal. We had the Bronzino, the octopus and a porterhouse lamb chop, which was delicious. There was nothing that was served that was not spectacular. I started off with the Greek French onion soup, and it was nothing I was expecting and so much more. They have a nice selection of wines as well as Greek wines to pair with your meal. The meatball appetizers that are mentioned quite a bit in the reviews were very well worth it. I skipped breakfast and lunch the next day because I was still so satisfied and so full from my meal the portions are large.

I went to Philosophia during a work trip with a group of 15 people and everything came out correctly! The food was delicious. I had vegetable moussaka with a glass of some red wine I could not pronounce. It was amazing!
The service was slower than my liking, with us being there about 3hours in total. My group did order drinks, appetizers, entrees and dessert, so the long wait is to be expected.
