The decor in this establishment makes a funeral pallor seem cheery in comparison but with the blinds down it’s too late when you realise as you’re already inside being ushered to a table. One positive about the food is that it will make you appreciate every other food you’ve ever had before. The thai garden ladies and gentlemen, enter at your peril.

Unpretentious corner restaurant in North Hobart. It was convenient as we were staying nearby. Nothing much to look at but that wasn’t why we were there. We wanted good authentic Thai food from a restaurant run by a family that cared about imparting their homeland culinary skills on their guests. And this is exactly what we got. Few bells, few whistles. BYO.
Best Thai food ever – no. But up there in in taste, variety, and presentation. Highlights – beef curry puffs, garlic prawns and red duck curry with vegetables. All just beautiful. Excuse the decor, devour the food! Recommended.

The food was okay. If you want authentic Thai food, THIS IS NOT IT! Was very disappointed as this was our last meal in Tasmania. I just don’t think you should name your restaurant Thai if you can’t produce the food to the standards..

Place has the atmosphere of an office that has been closed for 20 years, all the blinds closed.
The Pad Thai was edible but it shouldn’t be called Pad Thai. It was basically Singapore noodles. No Thai spices or anything.
The tapioca was so runny I had to drink it. Again, nothing to do with Thai food at all.
The owner should just consider calling it an Asian restaurant & be done with the pretence.

We were very pleased to find that after being closed for some time, this Restaurant has re-opened. Our meals were lovely. Best curry puffs we’ve ever eaten – main courses all scrumptious. Prices are extremely reasonable and staff cheerful and helpful. Though situated in North Hobart it’s not part of the main restaurant strip therefore plenty of easy parking. We do thoroughly recommend Thai Garden.

We had a group of 8 and had a brilliant night – the food was delicious; I had the veg spring rolls and the peanut satay stir fry veg + banana in coconut cream to finish. Do you self a favour and get a desert! YUM!. The service was also lovely! Very friendly and homely.
I’ll definitely eat here again!

Looking at previous reviews we were a bit anxious about dining here. However, the food was delicious! Green curry was delicious and the veg all fresh. Was a little quiet and no music but the woman serving us was so sweet!!

Thai Garden restaurant once again has delivered. Both meals were tasty, king prawns with veggies and salt & pepper squid with veggies. We will be back again.
