I’ve tried Thai restaurants all across the United States, and Madame Puff Chicago has truly become my new favorite. From the service to the impressive variety of Thai dishes, everything is impeccable. Their menu offers such a wide selection of authentic Thai food; the kind you would actually find back home in Thailand, and every dish is beautifully executed. The flavors are always spot on. I love changing my order every time I visit because everything is so tempting and exciting to try.
Barbie, the owner, is a wonderful host; warm, generous, and genuinely welcoming. The service team, led by Toast, is equally outstanding. I honestly couldn’t recommend a better place for authentic, upscale Thai cuisine in Chicago.

I recently visited Madame Puffs and Thai Bistro for their Valentine’s Specialty with my friends, and it was such a lovely experience from start to finish.
We ordered Salmon Snow, Shrimp Appetizer, Thai Pork Belly, Stewed Pork Leg, and Shrimp Paste Fried Rice and every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The Salmon Snow was light and refreshing, the shrimp appetizer was perfectly cooked, and the Thai Pork Belly was rich and satisfying. The Stewed Pork Leg was tender and comforting, and the Shrimp Paste Fried Rice had that authentic Thai taste that really brought everything together.
The place itself is decorated so romantically, perfect for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion. The atmosphere feels warm and intimate, making it great for couples or even a cozy night out with friends. On top of that, the service was incredibly caring and attentive. We felt very welcomed and well taken care of the whole evening.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for delicious Thai food in a romantic setting!

Based on all the amazing reviews, I was really looking forward to dining here. We decided to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and came out in a small group. The positives: The atmosphere and décor are amazing. You feel like you are in a fancy restaurant in downtown of a major city. We all loved it. Another big plus is that it is a BYOB restaurant, so we were able to bring wines that we liked. Our waiter was nice and courteous. There was just one more group in the restaurant so it was not really busy. The negatives: The soups we ordered were warm, not hot, like they should be. Overall the presentations of the food were nice, but the food itself was lacking freshness. The pad thai was unique, since the noodles were wrapped in an egg “pocket”. I ordered it with chicken and got a dry chicken breast cut into slices on the “pocket”. For a $17 pad thai plus $12 for the chicken, it was a pricey and disappointing dish. The pineapple fried rice came in half of a pineapple. Couple of shrimps. Nice presentation, but $30+ for warm fried rice, is a bit steep. Having BYOB helps offset the higher than average prices if you drink alcohol. Everyone’s food was OK, but not great. I think the food is overpriced, but you are paying a premium for a really nice atmosphere. Personally, I’d rather eat amazing Thai dishes in an average mom and pop Thai restaurant, and pay more reasonable prices. If the food was really good I would have no issues. But the fact that it was average at best, and the high prices, will not make us come back. However, if you are looking for a nice, cozy romantic restaurant, this might be a great fit.

My partner treated me to food at Madame Puffs and Thai Bistro and it was worth every penny!! We got the mixed veggie and pineapple puffs which were both so good. The puffs were so flaky and so flavorful. We also got the Moo Hung Phuket off of the winter seasonal menu and it was absolutely delicious! The pork was so tender and the sauce was so well balanced – being both savory and sweet. And the blue jasmine rice was so cool and yummy! Will definitely be returning!

My two besties and I are always on the look out for new brunch, lunch or dinner spots in and around the city. Thai cuisine was the choice for this outing so we pooled our options. Crying Tiger had been getting a lot of attention and getting a reservation was nearly impossible! However once we began reading tons of reviews, we opted out and canceled the reservation. We couldn’t chance being downtown in 6° weather for mediocre food! So we found Madame Puffs and were so glad we did. Upon arrival we were greeted and seated at the front of the long and narrow dining room. It’s much smaller than it appears online but is quaint and nicely decorated. Aside from another couple, we were the only patrons so we were tended to just fine. We started with the curry, basil and veggie puffs. All well seasoned, filled adequately, flaky and delicious. Then the bang bang shrimp , the chicken satay . Everything was good so far and came to the table like a work of art. Our entrees arrived.. salmon chu chi which bestie said was good and not too spicy (she likes spice), Northern Larb which was the other bestie’s choice which is minced pork and other pork pieces with aromatics…she said it was good (we don’t eat pork so we couldn’t sample)…I had the main course with ribeye, massaman curry sauce with grilled veggies. My steak was prepared medium well so just a tad too tough for me. I wasn’t asked how I wanted it prepared so I decided to trust the chef. I’ll be sure to specify next time. The sauce was delicious and the veggies were cooked perfectly. I will definitely return to try some of the other menu items!

From the moment you step into Madam Puffs and Thai Bistro, you’re welcomed into a space that’s not only impeccably clean but also thoughtfully designed – stylish, modern, and full of warmth. Located in the heart of Lincoln Square, this gem blends elegant decor with the vibrant aromas of authentic Thai cuisine, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.
The food? Absolutely exceptional. Every dish was crafted with care, but the standout of the evening was the red snapper – perfectly cooked, delicately seasoned, and plated with precision. It was the kind of dish you find yourself thinking about long after the meal is over.
Service here is just as impressive as the food. The staff was friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about both hospitality and the food they serve. It’s rare to find a place where the attention to detail shines through in every aspect – from the temperature of the plates to the timing of each course.
Whether you’re a longtime lover of Thai cuisine or a curious newcomer, Madam Puffs and Thai Bistro delivers a refined yet welcoming experience. With its combination of extraordinary flavors, polished service, and a beautiful atmosphere, it’s easily one of Lincoln Square’s most delightful dining destinations.

Amazing byob restaurant with great food and a wonderful staff. They had live music that was entertaining and not overwhelming. The food was delicious and each plate was a work of art. Tom yum soup was the best I ever had. Blue rice was very unique and added to the presentation. Khao kha moo was on the special menu and was my favorite dish. Wonderful experience from start to finish. Will definitely be back again soon.

The ambiance and plate settings were phenomenal. The food was probably the best Thai food I’ve had in Chicago. The plating of the food was beautiful and tasted amazing. I was really impressed. The live jazz music is the best. I will definitely come back again to taste other dishes 🙂
