Named after the family dog adorning our menus, Luca Lagotto was inspired by a family trip to Italy. The idea for Luca was born while visiting the small villages in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy, a place where neighbors share incredible food and community is built by sitting around a table. Our hope is that our passion for sharing good food with good people will inspire you to do the same with your neighbors.

I am visiting my sister in Birmingham and we went to Luca two days in a row because it was so good. The atmosphere is inviting and warm. The food was amazing and you could taste the freshness and authenticity. Both servers were had were so sweet and helped us decide what to get. If I lived in Birmingham, this would be a regular spot for me. We were also celebrating my birthday and they brought me a complimentary cannoli for desert and burrata to start. The lunch and happy hour specials are an amazing deal for everything you get! I can’t say enough good things.

This was such a lovely place for lunch! The online pictures of it do not do justice to the experience of the visit. We were so pleased with our service, I think his name was Jacob (I am so sorry if that is not correct) He was so sweet and helpful! We had the Eggplant Parmesan and it was a wonderful meal. But nothing could compare to the cannoli we had for desert! It was a comfortable space to be in every way!

From the moment we walked in we were given five star service. The greeter was very kind and seated us immediately for our reservation. Promptly a server handed his menus poured our water and greeted us with a smile. We asked what they suggested and decided to try the mozzarella sticks and the bread both of which were delicious. I wanted spaghetti and it was not on the menu but they graciously said it was an off the menu item but they were glad to accommodate with no hesitation and with a smile. It was absolutely delicious. My husband opted for the pizza which was one of the best I’ve ever had. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you’re wanting a special night and a wonderful meal. The ambiance is quaint and intimate while giving plenty of space. We definitely will be going back and I just can’t say enough Good about this establishment. They set the bar very high for others to follow. Great customer service, excellent food, and we never felt rushed.

Taste Italy in Birmingham! All the fresh and homemade tastes are delicious! Great variety of food and wines. Tremendous and welcoming staff. Our experience was excellent! We had reservations on Valentine’s, and, even though they seemed to be full and we arrived early, we were seated quickly.
The atmosphere was lively with tons of people, but we were still able to hear each other relatively well. Our server was attentive without being overbearing and was prepared to answer any questions about the menu and any specials (I don’t remember her name [sorry], but she did have a tattoo of a moon behind her ear- she was great).
We thoroughly enjoyed all of the food, with my wife remarking after we left that she wanted to try everything on the menu. We had a gift card, but there was some problem with the code on it; fortunately, they honored it anyway. We definitely plan to go back and hope to try something different with full trust that it’ll be stellar!

Amazing food!
I am visiting from Florida and this restaurant was recommended as having the best Italian food in town.
I can tell that this for sure is the best Italian food that I’ve had probably ever.
Amazing flavor with the pasta was cooked to perfection.
The appetizer was also amazing, one of the best mozzarella sticks I’ve had in a long time.
Parking seems like it could be an issue of there is a lot people though were able to find spot pretty quick
The only thing that unfortunately did not go with the good experience, was the service. Our server pretty came took the left us with a bottle of water and didn’t come back until we were pretty much done with out food and were dry with no water left in the bottle.
Still the next time I am in town I’ll make sure to visit for amazing Italian experience.

Not sure how this place has less than 4.5 stars, because my friend and I had a delightful experience here! Luckily, we were able to grab a seat at the bar because it is first-come, first-serve and there was a 1+ hour wait for a table for 2 on a weekend night. I’m so glad it worked out too, because it was delicious! The wine was perfect. I got a lamb pasta, phenomenal. My friend got a simple pasta, tasty. I would definitely recommend for date night or anniversary dinner!

Their happy hour is awesome! half off round pies, wines (by the glass) and beer! Love it. Pizzas and pastas both great, Luca fries also amazing. Big fan of the chop salad too.
