My go-to burger spot in Santa Rosa, I get the lamb burger and I’m a better person for it. Tastiest, juiciest burger on earth (I get medium rare). Love the Tzatziki, and fermented treats that come on it. Pomegranate Fizz cocktail was FANTASTIC. I also ordered the Roasted Beets and they were perfect, hazelnuts a nice touch. The bartender Christina was super friendly and super fast. Hit up this spot, you won’t regret it.

Always excellent every single visit. The menu is stellar across the board. Most recently I ordered the house bacon, pineapple and hot honey pizza and it was outstanding. My wife and I sat on the outdoor patio and while it was a bit chilly the overhead heater kept us comfortable. When a nearby propane heater went out the staff noticed immediately swapped in a new tank and kept things warm without missing a beat. Two thumbs up for both attentiveness and service.

A kitchen firing on all cylinders — let down by the front of house.

Monti’s delivered one of those meals where dish after dish lands with quiet confidence. Not flashy for the sake of it, just thoughtful cooking, excellent ingredients, and plates that look as good as they taste.

The flash-fried calamari set the tone immediately: tender, impeccably crisp, and paired with crispy fried lemon slices that were nearly as addictive as the calamari itself. Salty, citrusy, and bright — the kind of detail that signals a kitchen paying attention.

Both burgers were standouts. The grilled lamb burger (gluten-free) arrived precisely medium-rare, juicy and deeply flavored, with creamy feta and cool cucumber tzatziki providing just the right contrast. The sirloin burger, topped with house-made bacon, blue cheese, and salsa verde, struck a similarly deft balance — rich without tipping into excess, the herbs keeping everything lively.

The lemon tagliatelle with Dungeness crab was a highlight: silky pasta, generous crab, gentle heat from chilies, and enough lemon to keep the dish vibrant without overwhelming the sweetness of the seafood. This is a plate that disappears faster than you expect.

And then there were the skinny fries — crisp, rosemary-flecked, and unapologetically indulgent thanks to the blue cheese. Not an afterthought side, but something you actively compete over.

Dessert was a quiet triumph. The lemon olive oil pound cake, moist and fragrant, paired beautifully with honey-roasted grapes that brought warmth and depth, while the vanilla crème fraîche added just enough tang to keep the sweetness in check. Refined, balanced, and deeply satisfying.

The wine choice didn’t disappoint either. The Guadagni Family Wines Sauvignon Blanc (Dry Creek Valley, 2024) was fresh and expressive, and the fact that Monti’s offers four Sauvignon Blancs on a compact list is genuinely impressive — a small but telling sign of a wine program run by people who care.

Visually, the meal was as strong as the flavors. The photos say it all: clean, composed plates with real attention to presentation, without drifting into pretension.

The catch: service. We waited a full 15 minutes before seeing a server and ultimately had to ask the host for help. When our server arrived, the opening line — “I’ll only be your server for the first half of your meal” — came before any apology or welcome. Add being seated at the table closest to the restrooms despite ample availability elsewhere, and the front-of-house experience simply didn’t match the quality of the food.

Bottom line: Monti’s kitchen is doing excellent work, and we’ll absolutely return for the food and wine. Next time, though, we’ll be much more assertive about service — because a meal this good deserves a smoother landing.

In my dockers and USMC sweat jacket i felt like i didn’t belong here. I felt uncomfortable. I was by myself, so I got sat at the bar, which is totally fine. I ordered the Montecristo sandwich and a bloody Mary. The bloody Mary was way way too strong and unbalanced so much so that I barely finished half of it as for the Montecristo sandwich? See for yourself in my photos below. They use Gruyère cheese of which I found zero n my sandwich a strange sort of onion jams that was sweet.

The brioche bun was not cooked enough, and the jam made the back of the sandwich very soggy and un appetizing. I’ve had several Montecristo sandwiches and I have to say as much as I hate to that this was the worst..

I really don’t like giving bad reviews but I’m not going to lie. Most likely will not go back.

Mediterranean promise, uneven execution

Lunch at Monti’s felt like stumbling into a local favorite just as the lunch crowd hit full tilt. The bar was packed, and though we sat there with a good vantage of the room, service fell through the cracks — the bartender seemed overwhelmed by drinks orders and couldn’t quite guide us through the menu.

We began with the Tuscan Kale & Quinoa Chop Salad: bright, crisp greens, bracing lemon-vinaigrette, and well-judged feta and capers. It was the highlight of the meal — fresh, balanced, and unmistakably Mediterranean.

For mains, we tried the Grilled CAB Flat Iron Steak and the Roasted Salmon. The steak came out cooked decently, but lacked distinction — the mustard-butter and rosemary fries failed to elevate what was otherwise a safe, uninspired choice. The salmon was serviceable, plated with couscous and pomegranate vinaigrette as advertised on the menu — but it never quite asserted itself; the flavors were muted and the presentation forgettable.

Monti’s remains charming — its patio, Mediterranean atmosphere, and ambition are evident. Yet today the dining-room bustle and understaffed service compromised the experience, making a promising start unravel slightly by dinner.

Came across Monti’s while staying in Santa Rosa for a friend’s birthday. The atmosphere was amazing there food was sooo good and same with the wine. If I was ever in the area again I would definitely go back. I got the swordfish and it was to die for.

Terrific place with great ambience and good food. The server Josh was very friendly and efficient. The pita basket with three dips was excellent. We had the Margarita pizza that was good too. The cauliflower was so-so. We had the walnut cake dessert with vanilla sorbet that was excellent. My 4 for food is to encourage the chef to create just one more vegetarian dish. Well worth going to.

Nice food, lively crowd. Lots of hard surfaces so hard to hear when it’s full. Food was tasty. Staff did a great job despite clearly being a little understaffed.
Good oysters, great baked cheese.

Little picky note/question – Lamb burger, is it lamb only or mixed with some ground beef? It’s good but might not be exactly what the menu is saying

Regardless you can tell from all the other good reviews that this is a solid place everyone loves, so I won’t waste time.. Dog friendly. I recommend artichokes and mussels. Great price, great service, and great vibes.
