I drive past Famous Kabob & Karahi Zabiha Halal all the time on my endless runs down 198. Now that I’m focusing on “eating clean” with more Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine, I decided to finally check this place out. It was a little odd that when I walked in and stared at the menu for a while, no one acknowledged me or asked if I needed help. One of the workers even walked right by me and only greeted me after he walked back to the cash register. I waved it off, because he seemed completely unaware and was very pleasant when he finally said hello. ‍♀️ I asked him what are their most popular dishes. He told me the chicken and lamb kabob plates, so I ordered both to go. Lamb for me and chicken for my son. I must say, I enjoyed my meal. I tasted my son‘s chicken, and it was definitely overcooked. My lamb was slightly overcooked, but not chewy. My favorite items were the chickpeas and naan. I don’t know what sauce that was with the chickpeas, but it was DELICIOUS. The naan bread was definitely some of the best I’ve had, and the biggest. And the rice was cooked perfectly. I do, however, think they could’ve been a little more generous with their portions. I took these photos before we dug into the food, but you would’ve thought we had already started eating. Nope. Lol. Can’t say this is my new favorite spot, but overall, those chickpeas alone would bring me back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was shocked how good this food was. I was feeling middle-eastern food (this is Pakistani food), and figured I’d give it a shot on my way from Home Depot. I had the lamb chops, chicken and beef kabobs, and the samosas. All were exceptional and the portions were huge! I left talking about my food like I just watched an amazing film from a movie theater. Definitely on my list of go to food when im craving middle-eastern food!

We took our out-of-town friends to the Famous Kabob and Karahi, 9711 Fort Mead Road, Laurel, for lunch on 11th February 2026. It is a small, family-owned restaurant that serves freshly prepared, well-seasoned South Asian dishes in a quiet, friendly setting. We found the food to be flavorful, generously portioned, and made fresh to order. We ordered chicken karahi, chapli kabab, chicken seekh kabab, goat curry, and chana, followed by tea. The freshly grilled meats and house-made breads were delicious. Although the restaurant appears quiet from the outside, the food’s quality often makes the visit worthwhile.
The owner (Manzoor Ahmad) and staff are warm, welcoming, and accommodating. We had pleasant conversations with the owner and thoughtful gestures, including complimentary items. However, service time was a concern. Since much of the food is prepared fresh on a small grill, it appeared to be the cause of the delay. All of us had an excellent experience and would be willing to dine there despite a fairly long-distance drive. Zafar Iqbal, Herndon, VA

This place is a delight and the food was fantastic with great portions and affordable prices. We got lucky as we visited on a slow afternoon and hence there was not a lot of waiting. They also served complimentary fries and springs rolls before the food was served. The owner was very friendly. It was a delightful experience and I hope to be back again in the future. Thank you for having us!

Waittttttttttttt timeeeeeeee ! First timer . Saw some reviews and dropped in here . Came to order lunch at 1 pm and went out at 2.30 it’s too much of wait time . I would have given 1 star for the service , but gave 3 – because of their goat curry . It was really really good. Chicken kebab was ok. May be if we ate it there, it would have been good, but the delay in service , the food almost became cold…. Veggie was very average.

There were so many customers who were kind of frustrated with the wait time ! Certainly unacceptable. They just have a small grill and do the kebabs , like we do at home . Hope they upgrade their kitchen and also have enough help and improve their service .. non-veg food was good.. overall a very average experience.

This restaurant is more focused on caterings which is why you don’t normally see a lot of patrons dining in. However, don’t let that fool you. Probably the best pakistani/desi food in this area!

Oh boy was this was a roller coaster ride, we waited almost an hour and 15 minutes for our first dish which was the number 10 which included chicken, steak, and lamb. It was delicious and amazing! The ln our potato appetizer came out and it was cold and so so, they sadly for got our last appetizer and we reminded them and it came out 15 minutes later. Our entire dinner service was almost 2 hours for one entree and two appetizers.

BUT the food was great, the establishment was over all clean (tile was a bit tacky if I’m being picky) and the staff was friendly.

I will be returning since the food is so good and hoping service will be more reasonable!

The food is 4 star worthy, but our service experience was 2 stars at best. Will update my review after I return.

It’s new so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and add a star. I was the only one and made an order for kabobs to be cooked rare. The food took at least 30 minutes to come out. The meat was cooked beyond well done but burned. I would suggest you not visit this location at least for another week until they work out the kinks of opening week.

It’s a eat in restaurant and they also do catering. The food is fine but their service is horrible, if you need catering you need to order like a year in advance and still Mr. Manzoor – the owner – would deliver it late. Even dining in was not that good of an experience, one person trying to ring , make food and everything. Some time you might also get over charged so check your bill carefully.
