Reviews
They are serving something they call “chicken,” but it is NOT chicken. If you read other reviews, you’ll see multiple people saying the same thing. What we were given was skin, fat, and mushy pieces, mixed together in a way that honestly looks factory-processed. I have never seen chicken like this in my life.
I’ve eaten gyro and chicken platters not just in the United States, but also in the UK and Turkey, and this was by far the worst and most questionable “chicken” I’ve ever encountered. It doesn’t even taste like chicken. It tastes closer to something artificial, almost soy-like, but it’s not even soy. Whatever it is, it’s not real chicken.
If you’re looking for actual chicken, do NOT come here.
On top of that, the employee was on the phone the entire time — before we ordered, while we were talking to him, while preparing the food, and even after serving it. Completely unprofessional.
The worst part: NO REFUNDS.
We called and spoke directly to the owner, explained that the food was unacceptable, and were told they do not give refunds. We also ordered nuggets for our child, which we never even received, yet they still refused to refund anything.
We paid $25, received food we could not eat, did not get the nuggets, and were told to “call the bank” instead. That’s how they do business.
Honestly, this place should be reviewed by authorities. Serving something this misleading and refusing refunds is unacceptable. Businesses like this should not be allowed to operate in the United States.
Avoid this place at all costs.
The gyro tasted horrible because it is not real chicken and texture is crap. Shame on you for using the name halal and scamming customers.
If you’re using “New York” in your food stall’s name, you need to deliver, and Halal Eatz failed spectacularly. This was, without a doubt, the biggest disappointment I’ve had when trying street food. I would actively recommend that everyone avoid this place.
Let’s start with the proteins: the chicken tasted exactly like pre-sliced deli cold cuts—rubbery, processed, and completely lacking the charred, savory flavor you expect.
The base was no better. The rice was bland and clearly not the basmati at all that is standard for this kind of platter. It added nothing but empty bulk.
But the absolute worst part was the nickel-and-diming for the essentials. Charging 75 cents extra for white sauce and 50 cents for hot sauce is utterly ridiculous. These are foundational condiments, not premium add-ons! They should be included in the already high price. It feels like a blatant attempt to fleece customers.
Do not waste your money or your appetite here. This stall does a disservice to the reputation of New York street food.
Here’s why… Ordered mix gyro and received microwaved (not fresh) teeny tiny bit meat, got charged extra for white and hot sauce (receipt attached)⁉️
Speed of the Leader…. Speed of the Team
When questioned the workers for this malpractice, it seemed that it’s the norm. I refused to eat the dog food & refunded items. I rather take my business elsewhere to get my money’s worth.
☠️DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PHONY BUSINESS ☠️
Beware they charge undisclosed fees on Credit Card (Look at attached receipt)
The lamb alone is okay, but the falafel was bone dry and the rice had no flavor, not even rice flavor.
Lesson learned is get a meat sandwich if you must, and pass on anything with rice or falafel. But quite frankly, I don’t think we will come back.
VERY DISAPPOINTED
SO NOT RECOMMENDED
