It was light traffic. Didn’t know if it was because they recently reopened or because it was early in the middle of the week. Either way, your lose for not being there! The hostess/waitress/bartender did an exceptional job and was very pleasant the entire time we were there.
I can’t pass up meatloaf on a menu so I had my favorite dish and they did a great job with it. And there was PLENTY to eat from it. Side of mashed potatoes and gravy on everything just hit the spot and screamed “comfort food” on a cool December night. I have to say those green beans were tasty and how often do you say that? All of it was accompanied by a beer from the tap and I just felt like I was home for the holidays!
I will admit, this was not our first choice, we actually checked out 2 different places on the Main Street strip but one was closed and the other was only carry out (they had 3 or 4 “tables” but they were literally the size of a small tire lol.)
We finally settled on Donna’s and I’m so glad we did!
I ordered a burger and fries, my husband ordered a crab cake sandwich and sweet potato fries. We also ordered hush puppies as an appetizer. As a Maryland native I am happy to say that the crab cake was amazing. NO FILLER and good sized for the price. The burger was more than I expected it to be, I was honestly fearful it would be a premade patty (which always seem to taste more like grease than beef) and I was happy to find out that I was worried for nothing. The burger was bigger than the bun and, according to the menu description, a half pound in weight (before cooking) and beyond tasty with the perfect crunchy sear!! My meal was $14, the crab cake was $20, and the hush puppies were $5 (for 10). We both ordered beverages and, while I’m not one to typically gush over unsweetened iced tea (always my beverage of choice at restaurants) the iced tea was PHENOMENAL! It actually tasted like what fresh iced tea bags smell like when you open the box (instead of dirty tea water like you find in most restaurants).
All in all, I am so glad we ended up at Donna’s on main and, at a reasonable $40 for our meal, we will definitely be returning to experience more of the menu in the near future.
Service was slow and inattentive.
Very disappointing.
The service was slow even though the place was nearly empty. But our waitress was very nice and helpful. It’s a bit of a run down place, but clean and reasonably comfortable. Go for great food and drinks!!
We seen the reviews and thought we might as well give it a try. Bad idea.
Upon entering we had to seat ourselves and the only table that fit our family was completely wobbly. They had a guy come and put paper towels under the table legs to try to fix it which did not help. We ended up having to carry our drinks over to another table by a dirty a/c unit. We didn’t really realize that the prices were literally OUTRAGEOUS. When we got our food it looked like food court food. There was a beard hair on one of the plates. After eating the disgusting food we made our way to the bathrooms to wash our hands. There was poop on the floor and they looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in at least a month. Im not even going to mention the smell. As if it wasn’t bad enough it came to ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FOUR DOLLARS for six people. That’s enough to eat at an upscale winery. They automatically include a 20% tip on the bill which was included in the total. If anything we should have been paid $174 to eat there.
Waitress was really nice to us! The one star I did give is for the her and her service.
The place is clean and the food is basic. The service is standard courteous/friendly service.
I think it’s expensive for what is offered compared to other diners I’ve been to. I was not surprised at the 3% surcharge for credit cards (not debit cards) nor was I surprised at the mandatory gratuity for the large group. I was surprised at the automatic 22% gratuity rather than the normal 20%.
I wouldn’t drive out of my way to come back.
Why not give it a try ?
