As always, we had a fabulous meal at Lefteris. Nicholas, our waiter, is great. He is welcoming, friendly and he takes good care of his customers. The meal, from the appitizer through desert and cappucino is always fabulous. The atmosphere is warm and the layout is great.

Here is what you need to know before you go here – The place is very beautiful but we weren’t huge fans of our food. Consider this location its own entity – because if you compare it to the other locations in Tarrytown, Thornwood or Yonkers you will be disappointed. We went craving the amazing spinach and lentil soup that are signature at all locations. This lentil soup was watery and the spinach was not the one I came for. The location is an upgrade – portion size considerably smaller and more expensive – naturally they have a bigger overhead. I probably won’t come again but grateful and I wish them well.

Arrived on Friday night at 7:00. Busy but for a table for 3 white a wait. Good Greek wine options by the glass at reasonable prices. Waiter offered a taste of two since I was having trouble deciding. We enjoyed our dips with warm pita and a lovely Horiataki salad. Wish the waiter had emphasized that we all were getting Greek salads with our main fish course because we ended up boxing the Horiataki and taking the whole thing home (still delicious). Fish served fresh and tasty but my husband’s fish was overcooked. For the prices (which are fair but not inexpensive) you what the fish cooked perfectly. His was tough and dry. Lemon potatoes, heavenly. I will return and give it another try. Others have told me they’ve had all good experiences.

Ordered my food to go and I was very disappointed. The pork in the gyro sandwich was chewy and not cooked well. The shrimp in the pasta was spoiled. As soon as I took the top off my plate it smelled “off” but when I bit into it I had to spit it out immediately due to the horrible taste. $56 wasted. I’ve eaten in the restaurant a few times before and I can say it is very hit or miss. My main issue is consistency. I’m hungry and having to leave the quality of the food up to a coin toss, especially at those prices….is not good. I think I tried my luck here for the last time.

What a great place to relax and not feel pushed or pressured. This is literally a diner with a more open atmosphere and cozy lighting. Come in expecting mediocre food and moderate service and you’ll leave a happy camper. But this place is all about bottom-line food cost so if you have an appetite this might not work.

If you would like to have to have some tasty, good quality food and a good glass of wine where parking is not an issue, where the AC is not taking your head off, where the background music allows you to talk to your company without yelling at each other and where ALL staff members are nice to you, then go to Lefteris Taverna. The prices are good! It’s a hidden gem!
Tip: fish dishes are top class. As well as Greek coffee.

Now after recently coming back from Greece, I wanted something a bit more traditional. Lefteris is the most popular “chain” in all of Westchester and what I love most about it is the consistency across all their dishes. From their dolmas to the gyro, all remains the same and is super tasty. I really wish they had an olive oil bread service because I think it’d truly round off all of their offerings with something so simple but yet delicious. Pictured is the hummus with pita bread, mozzarella sticks, avgolemono soup, Greek salad, gyro platter, chicken gyro wrap and souvlaki platter. It was a rainy evening and we were sat down immediately. The space in this restaurant compared to the other locations is huge. Tons of tables and friendly waitstaff. If you’re in the mood for some Greek food, stop by a Lefteris near you.
