Very few places in the Bay Area can you watch a beautiful ocean sunset in a luxurious and romantic setting while enjoying good food. The Conservatory is the restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay, in its iconic clifftop building with large windows facing the Pacific ocean and it provides just that experience. From that regards, it gets full scores in Service and Atmosphere.
Being part of a 5-star resort, yes, the service is amazing. But also do keep in mind that you pay for what you get. $50 just to park. And it only goes up from there.
Now the food. Prices are set as high-end, near fine-dining caliber. But for somewhat an above-average Californian cuisine. Yes, the food is served in a solid presentation with hefty silverware but nowhere close is this fine-dining. It’s just good food. So I’d say they are clearly overpriced. The saving grace is the quality of the ingredients. Absolutely solid and flavorful and don’t cut corners. However, again, these aren’t artistry grade.
At the end of the day, you go to The Conservatory on a special occasion. This isn’t your regular pop in/out American bistro. Something must be going on. You’re on a date to impress. You’re celebrating a birthday or promotion. You need that special elevated mood that you don’t feel often. And yes, the Conservatory delivers on that front. However, you must also feign the haughtiness. Bring out your extra snootyness. And perhaps that is the whole point of this place.

Great ambience and amazing sunset view. Both the food and service was excellent. We were impressed with how all the servers were trained well and offered assistance in any way they could.
The mushroom parmesan risotto was decently cooked but I wish it was a bit hotter. The steak was cooked perfectly as requested. The brussels salad had a good flavor. Lastly, the cream with sorbet (pavlova) dessert was decent. They also brought a small mousse for the birthday with a candle on it, which was a nice touch.
I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a great place for special occasions.

I went here for brunch to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The restaurant is inside the Ritz Carlton so you’ll need to drive through their entrance. I was greeted at the entrance and the valet was very friendly. Valet parking cost $50 for a partial day.
The inside was so fresh, bright and serene. They seem to be dog-friendly because we saw some cute dogs around the restaurant. The wagyu bolognese was savory and delicious. I suggest getting one their cold pressed juices. I got Bright juice and it was refreshing and paired well with the bolognese. The staff came out with a cute birthday candle on the dessert that my friend ordered so that was very sweet. I did not enjoy the Coastal Midnight dessert that I got. It was too decadent for a brunch.
The golf course was right outside so it was nice to walk off that brunch to great views, a sea breeze and good vibes.

Went here for a lunch. We had a reservation so we were seated upon checking in with the hostess. She seated us in the table by the full size window with the most beautiful view of the ocean- so stunning and peaceful.
We ordered the branzino, salmon and steak. All are yummy to our liking. The service is awesome, Jessica was warm and attentive throughout. The whole place is relaxed yet with a luxurious vibe.

I love my experience with The Conservatory. The customer service is top notch. Antonia went all her way to make sure i had the best of my order. Food was very well prepped from flavor to portion. Just had breakfast. I m now planning for dinner with them ❤️

The view was beautiful but for the prices I thought the food would be more flavorful! We had the farm chicken that was $52 and honestly it was a bit dry and nothing to call home about but I guess you are just paying for the view because it also cost $50 to park the car!

We dined for breakfast at the conservatory during our stay at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay. The service was excellent, very attentive, and professional. The atmosphere was top notch with views of the coast and the 18th hole. The food was just ok though. Not bad but not great. They serve a complimentary juice shot with orange juice and ginger that was a nice touch. And fresh flowers everywhere make your experience feel very special.
