Looking for a quiet place to eat and enjoy some hearty Thai food or even tasty pork porridge? Here’s the place to go.

We usually go for late brunch, just before lunch hours and it tends to be quiet – both for our sake and also for other diners since we have two rambunctious toddlers.

Their Khao Thom, pork porridge, is delicious. Our toddlers like this every time we go. Heart warming, tasty, and good amount of protein – minced pork and hard boiled eggs (which we would smash up). Only thing lacking is vegetables for it to be a well rounded meal.

Tried yellow curry with chicken today. It was good though could improve as the potato was a little on the hard side. Maybe since it was early, it was still cooking? Hopefully better next time.

Newly opened cafe near Park Street, came and got Tofu Fried Rice plus Thai Iced Tea. The Thai Iced Tea was amazing and got it for $4.50 The Fried Rice was also really good and they give you a plentiful portion The inside of the cafe had beautiful decoration and lovely furniture. Overall my experience was very pleasant and the customer service was on point Great communication. Will definitely come back

We enjoyed our brunch at this cute and friendly mom & pop style Lao and Thai place! Great savory/spicy breakfast alternative to western sweet breakfast places! Loved the old school chinatown-style decor and the karaoke style covers of pop songs playing

Maya the owner took our orders and was super sweet with our toddler

We ordered and really loved the Khao Thom (rice porridge with ground chicken/bone broth and egg), Pad Grapow Chicken (Krapow Gai) and our kid got two pancakes (syrup and jelly at the table- wish it came with butter though!).

Also at the table were 4 types of homemade chili oil / spicy vinegars!

They’re in the process of finding what hours work best, so currently they’re open from 10a-6pm M-Th, 9am to 8pm Fri-Sat, closed Sunday. They also will occasionally close from 4 to 5pm for dinner prep!

It was so nice! The lemon grass chicken fried rice was incredible and the employees were very friendly. It was a very welcoming, cozy environment and perfect for a rainy day.

BEWARE, they will overcharge you and you wouldn’t know.
I had to ask for a detailed receipt, wait 5 min while they figure out how their system works in order to find that I was charged extra without that info being on the menu. When I told them that it wasn’t on the menu, that I shouldn’t be charged this, she got mad and started acting all mad that it was beef and it is extra. I would have left it as ‘tip’ if she was apologetic and actually owned up to their mistakes and tried hard to fix it.

Food: Ok, very salty and sauce is overdone on pad thai. Not tasty

Charge: Price on the menu was 15.95$ for pad thai and pad see ew. No additional price ANYWHERE on the page or menu. I was charged 18.95$ for ‘beef’.

Never again

This is my family’s new favorite Thai/Lao restaurant in Alameda. Flavors are excellent and I especially appreciate the attention to details on the Pad Kee Mao/See Ew noodles. Most places will not take the time to separate the flat noodles so that they are not served in clumps. This place does. Now, if only Thai restaurants, in general, would start tenderizing their meats, I’d eat it way more often. I know this is a tangent, but honest question, why don’t Southeast Asian restaurants tenderize their meats?

Update: Cant speak about other meats, but the beef is now tenderized! Thank you!

My son and I are extremely impressed with their delicious food, large portions, and attentive service. I ordered breakfast, which consisted of a stack of 3 blueberry pancakes, bacon, and potatoes with Thai iced coffee. My son ordered spicy chicken Pad Thai with Thai iced tea. Everything was extraordinary and surprisingly much more affordable than expected. We will definitely be back!!
