We had the combo pan roast and full crab Ceasars. We walked right in on Saturday around 4pm, immediately seated, our server had drinks on our table within 5 minutes and we were enjoying our dinner shortly after. Like others have said 5 is spicy, our server said 3 is medium, but we like it hot. We came to play, but we will be back to enjoy this just for the food and friendly service. The bloody Mary is a great pairing, mine came with shrimp.

I had the creole seafood bowl… and it was delicious. My buddy had the gumbo and it was good too. Liked how they use a steamer to whip up the dishes… Definitely coming back

We have been here a few times and it never disappoints. The only issues are with the location and not the food. It is first come first served and there are no reservations. So you never know what your wait time is going to look it. It’s also right off the casino floor and next to Palo Verde Lounge, so it can get fairly loud. That aside the food is very good. We love everything here and it’s always fresh preparation and made to order. You can’t go wrong. We love the gumbo and the pan bake. I highly recommend you make the trip.

Technically a 4.5 stars. Post Valentines Day dinner. We typically drive to Vegas for a pan roast and found this place. The -1/2 star is for the pan roast, I think it’s tastier and richer with a lobster bisque base rather than a tomato base. We also tried a few appetizers that were delicious and hit the spot! The crab meat cocktail was fresh and the creamy sauce was delicious! The smoked seafood cheddar dip was amazing!!! Our server was attentive and courteous. We had a great first time experience. We will definitely return. (Chef: offer a lobster bisque base option for the pan roast please 😉 )

If nothing else, it is worth stopping by for dessert! They serve a chocolate caramel creation that can only be described as a giant delicious chocolate truffle filled with gooey delicious caramel! The appetizers are pretty good too! Try the Oyster shooter and the shrimp cocktail served with Colossal Shrimp! The dinner food was very good. It is definitely Louisiana style! The Crab Gumbo was overflowing with tasty crab meat! The staff are friendly enough, but maybe a little distracted. It was hard to get their attention. The atmosphere was so-so only because of the casino and it feels like a food court. But, definitely not “food court” food!

We are a sucker for pan roast every time we go to Vegas, we need to stop by Palace Station.

So when we saw Ocean Trail serving pan roast inside Talking Stick Casino, we had to try.

Started out with half dozen Blue point oysters from Virginia ($27). The sizing was inconsistent.

We sat at the bar to watch the chef make our combo pan roast with spice level 5. He adds five spice, shakes the Cajun spice jar 5 times which corresponds to the spice level we picked, adds White wine brandy, more Spices and lemon juice.

The pan roast had crawfish, shrimp and crab meat for $39. Choice of white rice or dirty rice. We chose white and wished we tried dirty which is white rice with ground beef. Never seen this option any where else.

We enjoyed the flavors but the pan roast here was pricer and I’m used to having sausage and more seafood for lesser price. The broth was on the thinner runnier side not chunky. The portions were also smaller. Reasons for the overall 3 stars.

If you’re craving and want to spend your winnings, go for it. Otherwise, get it at the original pan roast at Palace Station.

This is a small dining area inside a casino. The best seat in the house is at the bar right in front of the chef. A lot of seafood varieties. Interestingly seafood creole, gumbo, étouffe can be found in middle of Arizona dessert. Service is friendly and food is flavorful. Get it level 5 spicy.

Update 2/7/24

Ocean Trail is a hidden gem nestled within the bustling, illuminated heart of Talking Stick Casino. As I entered the restaurant on a lively Friday night, the symphony of slot machines and excited chatter created an initial impression, which was both intriguing and overwhelming. The ambiance, as one might expect in such a location, was less about serene dining and more a reflection of the casino’s high-energy environment. The vibrant noise and the live band playing nearby are upfront realities for anyone considering a culinary venture here.

At first glance, the décor struck me as perhaps incongruous with the rich Cajun flavors promised on the menu. The walls adorned with glass tiles hint at an aquatic theme, it felt as if it were previously a seafood restaurant repurposed as a cajun place. It’s a functional space where the focus is clearly meant to be on the food rather than the surroundings.

The unassuming environment belies the kitchen’s impressive dedication to quality and freshness. As I watched, each oyster was meticulously inspected, with the chef himself conducting a personal ‘sniff test’ just after shucking. This commitment to freshness extends to the entire menu, instilling confidence that each dish is crafted from the peak of the produce and proteins available.

For my main course, I selected the Shrimp Gumbo. Ordering at a spice level of 6, I was eager to see how this Cajun staple would translate at Ocean Trail. The gumbo did not disappoint: it delivered a robust complexity that danced across my palate, the spices harmoniously blending into a symphony of taste that felt both authentic and expertly executed. There were, however, fleeting moments when the shrimp, though perfectly fresh, were ever so slightly overcooked — we’re talking like 60 seconds. This minor hiccup was swiftly forgiven, however, as the dish’s overall composition more than compensated. As any Cajun aficionado will tell you, a little perspiration is a testament to the dish’s integrity, and my experience was authenticated by the extra napkins thoughtfully provided by our attentive waiter.

Ocean Trail’s service is brisk but warm, reflective of its efficient operation on a small floor space that seats roughly 30 patrons. With no reservations accepted, you should be prepared for a short wait. Despite the brisk pace, the staff ensured our needs were met promptly, reinforcing a sense of team cohesion and professionalism that complements the kitchen’s artistry.

In terms of value, the pricing is as accessible as it is commendable, serving undeniably high-quality cuisine that stands as the best I’ve encountered in the valley—a sentiment echoed by long-standing patrons and newcomers alike.

Ocean Trail is an endearing contradiction: a vibrant and electric atmosphere paired with food that pays homage to the subtle intricacies of Cajun nuances. It’s an experience that thrives on freshness, creativity, and flavor, adeptly overcoming the auditory chaos of its casino setting. While the décor and ambiance offer room for improvement, the remarkable service and exceptional food quality make Ocean Trail a noteworthy destination for any Cajun food enthusiast braving the casino’s lively tide.

Overall, I rate Ocean Trail a deserved 4 out of 5, mainly driven by their exceptional food quality, menu, and service despite the energetic atmosphere that some may find challenging.

I hadn’t realized that the menu was very heavily Cajun, which I love, and haven’t found many good Cajun restaurants outside of New Orleans. Ocean trail did not disappoint. Portions were generous, everything was properly cooked and very well flavored.
Went with my friend Kasey last night. I had the creole and he had the shrimp boil. The flavor on both were perfect. Kasey was afraid that it would be an oily mess, instead, the broth was rich, lemony, no oily feel whatsoever. The creole was loaded with shrimp, scallops, clams and all perfectly cooked.

I wanted Creole food on AZ, and this place came up. I gave ot a 4 star because it is located inside a casino (I didn’t know that until i arrived), so of that is your thing you may like it even more. I ordered the seafood creole, and it was amazing! Plenty of seafood, spice level 1-10…I had “5” and I am a spicy eater, but I could have had a 3 or 4. It was still very good. Shout out to Josh the waiter. You were great. Please tell them I need cornbread next time I come, lol
