A cornerstone of Seattle’s dining scene since 1998, la Spiga is renowned for its authentic, northern Italian cuisine, a gastronomic tribute to Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region. Executive Chef, Sabrina Tinsley, updates the menus seasonally, uses only the finest Italian ingredients, and seeks out what is freshest in local markets. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the food warms the soul. As co-founder and host Pietro Borghesi says, “An evening at la Spiga is like dining in Italy — without the plane fare.” Chef Tinsley was a contender on Iron Chef and has been featured on television, radio and in print. In Nov. 2022, she opened la Dispensa, a gourmet Italian market and deli offering many la Spiga favorites and more for enjoying at home.

First, our server gave us the wrong information about the bread that comes with the cheese plate, which led us to order the calamari. The calamari was severely overpriced — $22 for a very small plate of thin, over-fried pieces. Definitely not worth the money.
The pastas were fine, but portions were small for the price. To make matters worse, one of our pasta orders was wrong. They remade it, but by the time it came out, one of us had already finished eating. These things happen, but there was no apology beyond a quick “sorry,” and no effort to make it right.
Finally, when the bill came, we noticed they had upcharged each pasta dish by $2 compared to the menu. I had to ask the server to adjust it — not exactly the kind of attention to detail or customer care you’d expect.
Overall, between the overpriced appetizers, small portions, incorrect order, and billing issues, this was a disappointing experience. We won’t be returning.
The wine was fine, but it would’ve been much more enjoyable if it hadn’t arrived a third of the way through our meal (supposedly they encountered difficulties while looking for the bottle). $28 for a fairly cheap 375mL bottle did feel pretty steep, even for a place like this. We spent a bit over $100 between the two of us.
We were also in and out in about 35 minutes, which is probably the biggest positive I have to say about our experience. The ambiance was nice too I suppose. We probably would’ve been better off staying in
Awesome cocktail and wine selection. Food is always well done with fresh ingredients. One of our favorite casual Italian restaurants in Seattle, and especially great for special occasion.

We were a group of 40 went to this place in August. The pasta tasted good. Zucchini tasted nice compared to other italian places. The veggies were tasty too. Filetto Estivo got mixed reviews from the group. Either it was over cooked or undercooked. But did not taste bad.
Chicken and Seafood options were very limited. Decent Pork and Steak options available.
1) We had to ask for water multiple times before getting some more. So the server could have been a bit more attentive.
2) The bottle of wine we ordered, and actually liked, was out of inventory after the first bottle. So we were asked to switch to another one which was supposed to be similar, but it actually did not taste similar at all. The one similarity was that they were both red. So the suggestion here is to have a better selection, or at least let us know you have only one bottle left upon ordering, and don’t lie to us about being a wine being similar, when it really isn’t… I’m no wine expert, but the flavor profile was quite distinctively different to me.
3) Though the food was tasty, the portions were quite small. We definitely got appetizers to share in advance and even after dinner, it felt like we needed dessert. This may be intentional, but it really is not ideal.
Overall, I liked the food here and the staff were nice. Definitely could make some changes for better customer satisfaction though.
