Oh my. This place was found on whim. Typical decor for a ramen house. Japanese style decor with the Hawaii location. We had the combo A. I had the spam with rice katsu as my option. So good. I couldn’t finish my meal. The price is about $18 which I find on the higher side of average. You’ll see by the pictures. The staff were nice and professional. Our food came in short order and tasted so good.

As soon as I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by a very nice employee and she immediately had a table just for me. She quickly provided a menu and came back after a couple minutes for my drink order which arrived quickly, followed by an opportunity to order my meal. I ordered the gyoza ramen, which arrived quickly, as pictured. I had also asked to try their kimchi as I had never tried kimchi before, and they were happy to provide a small bowl of fresh kimchi for me to try which turned out to be very tasty. The ramen provided was a wonderful, steaming hot bowl of perfectly cooked noodles in a tasty broth with the perfect amount of veggies, 5 fully filled gyoza, and a nicely sized fish cake (very light on the fish taste which is great because I don’t like fish very much). I added 2 scoops of chili paste and a few sprinkles of chili powder to my liking.
Overall, this restaurant provided very fast service, an enjoyable environment with light, modern music around noon, and very tasty food, all for a great price. I was able to finish every last drop happily, knowing that I can support a wonderful local restaurant. Total price for gyoza ramen and a raspberry iced tea was $19.69 after tax, which to me is a great deal in 2025! They didn’t even charge me for the little bowl of kimchi which is a sign of a great family-run restaurant with gracious people running it. I will be sure to come back again in the future!

I have eaten here a few times, and since I’m driving over 70 miles to do my monthly shopping trip to Costco and whatnot, I take my 1 meal in town pretty seriously. That said, I’m regularly amazed at the fact that as good as the food is here, the place is almost always a ghost town. (As I post this review, it’s 1:15pm and I am the only customer in the building). It’s one of maybe 2 or 3 places in Kona that is consistently really good and reasonably priced(for Kona). More people should come here. I’m picky, and I’m yet to be disappointed.

Fast service and great value. Seated a group of 10 immediately on a Thursday night, 2 hours prior to closing. Entire table was served in under 30 minutes. The Combo A with Chicken Katsu Curry was delicious and very filling. At $18, the quality and quantity are hard to beat.

Good Japanese food in a convenient location. The fry on the katsu (we tried both spam katsu and chicken katsu) was very nice and crispy. The ramen and mini ramen were booth good. We also enjoyed the gyoza.

stopped in for a quick lunch and everything was spectacular! the unagi was our favorite for sure and you of course can’t go wrong with the ramen. the combos come with lots of options and the portion sizes were very generous for the price. the curry was so good i even ordered dinner to go before we left and they put the sauce on the side in the takeout box so nothing got soggy. our waiter was very kind as well. definitely worth a try.

We visited Ikkyu Ramen and I ordered the unagi set—not realizing at first that it meant eel. That explained why the texture was so different from what I expected! The consistency wasn’t what I usually like, and honestly, if I had known it was eel, I probably wouldn’t have ordered it. That said, it was prepared well— and flavorful—and definitely unique. The rest of my family really enjoyed their dishes.
Service could be improved. We had to ask for water refills, which I think should be a basic part of the dining experience. Also, the bill was placed on our table before we even requested it, which felt a little rushed.
Overall, not a bad experience. The food quality was good, just not my personal preference with the eel. With a bit more attentiveness from the staff, it could have been a much better dining experience

Mochiko chicken is good. Ramen is like a fusion flavor, large portion, taste 6.5/10. Cost efficient.

Probably the lowest cost Ramen joint in town. You will be served with one guy – for the entire restaurant. Atmosphere is what you would expect from a low cost ramen place.
