Love this place! Definitely a dive, but easily one of the best dives in michigan. The chef there knows what he’s doing and crafts excellent bar food. The bartenders are always friendly and so are the regulars. Get to know them, you’ll like them! Though it’s definitely a neighborhood bar, they are overly welcoming to outsiders like me! Go here, eat, drink, be merry, and tip well, because they deserve it!

Bay View Bar & Grill – Straight From the Ice, Respect Earned
Listen here. From the outside, Bay View Bar & Grill looks like it’s seen a few winters, a few bar fights, and maybe a snowmobile accident or two. Paint’s tired. Sign’s crooked. Looks like the kind of joint your mother would tell you not to go into.
That’s exactly why it’s perfect.
I rolled in fresh off the ice, boots still crusted with frozen slush, smelling like propane heaters and bad decisions. Inside? Warm. Honest. No nonsense. This is a real-deal ice fisherman gangster headquarters.
The food? Fuggedaboutit. Absolute hammer. The kind of meals that don’t ask questions and don’t apologize. Every bite hits like you just pulled a walleye through eight inches of ice with a busted auger and pure willpower. Grease in the right places. Flavor that sticks with you longer than a hangover in Saginaw Bay.
And then there’s Shelly the bartender. Let me be crystal clear: Shelly runs that bar like a seasoned captain runs a shanty in a whiteout. Drinks strong, timing perfect, attitude elite. She knows when to talk, when to slide a drink, and when to pretend she didn’t hear whatever nonsense you just said after your third round. Absolute professional. Absolute legend.
This ain’t a place for influencers, white tablecloths, or tiny portions. This is a place for hard men, cold hands, empty stomachs, and full glasses. A place where stories get louder, fish get bigger, and nobody cares what your jacket looks like.
Bay View Bar & Grill might look raggedy on the outside—but inside?
It’s gold.
I’ll be back. And I won’t be coming in clean.

We are staying at the State Park. Needed something to eat and relax. Picked Bay View Bar & Grill by reviews and seemed to be a nice local place. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and overall cleanliness of the place. Ordered a 4 piece fish plate thinking it would be whitefish. Surprisingly it was perch and they were good sized. Highly recommend this stop. We were very pleased. Service was good too.

Solid dive bar vibe. Was in the area on a Marketplace mission. And saw the open sign.
Was the only person there till a friend saw my truck and stopped in.
Had a few Cherry Wheats. Bartender was sassy and super funny. Around 330 locals started coming in and she had their beers out before they sat down.
Did not order food. But lots of to go traffic.
Will be back for a afternoon pint!
*be advised no draft and a nice selection of the hard stuff. 4 stars till I try the food

Great place, I had the bay veiw burger it was huge and pretty tasty the bun was a bit soggy but I think that was butter from toasting it or fat from the burger but it was nice otherwise also the fries were a tad too soft but it didn’t really matter with ketchup the tables were clean and only bad smell was cigarette smoke overall the price was ok for what you get and the time it took

The food was excellent here. We had fish dinners, taco salad and a philly steak sandwich. Everybody enjoyed their meal. It was a warm day and there was a musty smell in the bar. I have allergies so I probably won’t go back. One person in our party asked if they could get some hot sauce with their sandwich. A small container of hot sauce came out. He used 5 drops from the container and was charged .75. I really dislike when business’s work in sneaky upcharges and aren’t forth coming about what they plan to add to your bill. So beware if you ask for anything extra.

Don’t get fooled by the curbside appeal, it is a real dump. They offered a couple of things that were edible. My wife liked the fried perch, and I enjoyed the wingdings. They should remove the mushroom burger off their menu. And they had a full house with only one girl running around and 5-6 servers behind the counter, rolling silverware. I had to go to the bar to refill my wife’s diet soda, and get water for me. OMG I could believe the place was packed.

Food is good, but lacked seasoning. Typical bar food. The server was a 10. She did whole bar by herself, great job. Nice local bar.

I was pleasantly surprised how clean the bar was! The two wonderful ladies working were on their game, same with the kitchen. I had the perch sandwich and it was perfect (minus it missing the top bun at first, but was quickly remidied) I was very happy. This place has really taken a change for the better! This is my hometown and it’s great to find places doing well. My regards to the kitchen for their work as well. Cheers!
