Honestly, I wasn’t expecting anything special—but from the very first bite, I was blown away. The chicken was incredibly tender and juicy, and the dough was perfectly crispy and flavorful. It was hands down the best calzone I’ve had in the last 30 years.
Two thumbs up. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a truly delicious meal!
I usually really like this place. I’m a frequent customer, I live up the street, and I walk down to pick up food all the time. I almost never complain. My general rating is 4/5 — everything is great except the roast beef NEVER ORDER THE BEEF (for that, Pete’s is definitely better).
That being said, I didn’t even complain on the day. I tried their beef and it was inedible.
However, tonight I ordered a steak & cheese calzone with peppers and onions, and I was disappointed. The peppers and onions were completely uncooked. I called the restaurant to let them know, expecting they would remake it. Instead, the girl at the counter told me I needed to bring the calzone back to “prove to the cook” that it was uncooked.
I wasn’t asking for anything unreasonable — just to have it made correctly. My family was already eating, and I didn’t want to walk back down the street carrying a half-eaten calzone. Also, what would they even do with it if I returned it? It’s not like it could be reused. Generally, when you order steak and cheese with peppers and onions, they’re cooked — it’s pretty standard.
I also noticed when I was there that they seemed disorganized and were already fixing someone else’s order. And the bottom of my calzone was extremely soggy, likely from the raw vegetables.
I didn’t feel heard or cared about when I called, which is disappointing as someone who comes here often. I hope the staff can handle situations like this more professionally and try to fix the issue rather than imply the customer is lying.
Giovanni’s is offering a variety of pupusas, and they are a MUST TRY! If you’ve never had one, please do yourself a favor and try one out.
I did pay $3.50 for a teeeeeny cup of horchata which I think is completely unjust.
Back to the pupusas,
I had 2 different kinds; revuelta, chicharrón y queso.
Both great!
