Quite pricey, but the food was EXCELLENT! We enjoyed the gnocchi, the seafood crudo, the large stuffed canelloni, and a shared salad with bacon. All so delicious. The ambience with dining amongst a patio of sorts with a large tree growing through the roof was spectacular. Service was exceptional. Now that the wine menu is like 69 pages long. Enjoy the read of you are a wine connoisseur. We stand wine from a local Carmel winery. The tiramisu is a must. We all LOVED it.

The food was good, though not particularly outstanding. The service was attentive and professional, with friendly staff throughout the meal. In my opinion, the dining atmosphere was the biggest highlight — the restaurant has a warm, vintage feel, and in one corner there is even a table that was once used by Vincent van Gogh.

Stopped at a favorite in Carmel-by-the-Sea to celebrate. Well worth it. Sat in the courtyard by the old tree for a quick, early dinner. The Fromage D’Affinois plate was perfectly balanced and enough for two. The Carpaccio was nicely done and we finished with Basque Cheesecake and Tiramisu. Pleasing atmosphere, service and food.

The staff were very friendly and very attentive ! I would highly recommend this place for an anniversary dinner. It pricy ! But food was delicious . If you are into art. There is a room you can dine in where the famous Picasso use to dine . We had some escargots, stone salad , fish and Wayho steak and finished off with a rich chocolate mouse !

It was our first time here. Loved it.

I loved the atmosphere and the service. Our waiter was accommodating: Allow the 4 of us to have 2 separate bills. Some waiters at other restaurants will frown upon our request, but Casanova did it ungrundringly. We sat in the outdoor covered patio. Very charming.

The martinis and starter bread were very good, but I was disappointed in the escargot (shell on.) They did not have the pesto, garlicky-oil that I was longing for. I long to dip my bread into the escargot sauces. It was dry and tasteless.

Main Entrees:
My friend’s meat cannaloni dish with truffles, did not have any hint of truffle. But it was still tasty. The short rib dish was beautiful but good for someone with a small appetite. But our table’s favorite was the seafood linguine. It was big, hearty pasta dish. Though my wife and I shared this, I could’ve ate it all.

Desserts:
We had the Basque (“burnt”) cheesecake and lime tart. Good, but small portions. No, the cheesecake was not burnt. “Basque cheesecake, also known as burnt Basque cheesecake or San Sebastian cheesecake, is a Spanish dessert that originated in the Basque region.”

I will come back.

I had a fantastic time at Casanova! It’s a cozy place with an elegant yet relaxed vibe. My group ordered three starters (burrata, fig salad, and gnocchi) and four main courses (two braised beef cannelloni, pork chop, and rack of lamb). The gnocchi was chef’s kiss! I had the rack of lamb, and it was delicious. I couldn’t resist savoring the meat from the bone, but I have to say, the braised beef from the cannelloni was even better. I highly recommend Casanova!

I had a great experience for dinner in the courtyard. One thing if I were to pick on a as the in time communication between the team that wasn’t 100% picking up my request. But overall it was a very unique time for me.

Couldn’t say enough good about our two experiences here in two nights. Excellent, attentive service, incredible food, fabulous wine list. In two nights we had: Sole, lamb, cannelloni, crab cake, salad, tiramisu, apple tart, pecan pie. Love the Georis Pinot, the Cowgirl Red Blend and the Armmagnac. Both of our servers and the hostess were fun and attentive and top notch. We sat outside in the front once and inside under open air another time. Absolutely love this place! La Bicyclette is another favorite but harder to get into.

On Saturday evening, I made reservations at Casanova to celebrate my wife’s birthday. It was her first visit to Carmel, and I wanted to ensure she had a perfect birthday weekend. Casanova, with its historic charm, is a must-visit if you haven’t been there.

The service was exceptional, particularly Christina, our server, who was fabulous and went out of her way to make sure my wife had an amazing time. We started with the bread service, greens salad, and escargot, which were all delightful. For our main courses, my wife enjoyed the ravioli while I had the steak frites. We ended the evening with espresso and cheesecake for dessert. Every dish was mouth-watering, bursting with flavor, and of the highest quality.

The ambiance, music, and the kindness of the entire staff made this birthday dinner an unforgettable experience for my wife.

Great little hidden spot for rustic Italian food. Great bread and the service was excellent. The building has a good story too. One of the oldest in the town.
