The drink was pretty good and stiff. I had the fried chicken as an appetizer and was sold – it looked simple but the taste was fantastic – and the aioli went well with it.
The lamb chops were succulent, with a good portion of ghee rice (ney choru) that reminded me of fresh home made ghee rice.
The frozen Shrikand was sweet but ok otherwise – because the freezing took away from both the taste and joy of eating soft Shrikand.
Fantastic experience overall.
The food is outstanding, with each dish thoughtfully crafted and beautifully presented. From the appetizers to the desserts, everything is packed with flavor and executed to perfection. The appetizers are delicious and set the stage for what’s to come, while the main courses are rich, balanced, and deeply satisfying. The desserts are equally impressive—mouthwatering, refined, and a perfect way to end the meal.
What truly stands out is the consistency in quality across the entire menu. Every plate looks like a work of art and tastes just as amazing, reflecting the care and creativity behind each preparation. This restaurant is truly a gem in the Bay Area and lives up to its Michelin recognition. It’s a must-visit spot, especially if you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply want to treat yourself to an elevated and unforgettable dining experience.
The branzino was generous enough for two people and arrived beautifully presented without the main bone, though there were still quite a few smaller bones left, so it’s something to be mindful of while eating. The lamb chops came as two pieces, which made them perfect for sharing and nicely portioned. The snack dishes are very small but flavorful and meant to be shared; the standout was the raw fish dish, similar to a ceviche, which was fresh, bright, and especially tasty.
Service was friendly and attentive, and the overall experience felt comfortable and well-paced. Eylan is a solid addition to Menlo Park’s dining scene and worth visiting if you enjoy thoughtfully prepared dishes in a stylish, welcoming setting.
The server was cordial not warm. He explained the dishes as they were bought….
Cocktails were okayish for $20….they were average for an upscale restaurant.
We started off with Taro root chat and the puchkas – really good…the chef elevated the dishes with taste as well. The crab bread was a let down. The canbage dish was highly rated but I personally did not like it. I think paneer, mushroom, or any meat would have been much better instead of that. We really wanted to try lamb chops but they were crazy expensive to experiment with…
The gulf shrimps were decent and chicken anar was juicy.
We ordered the frozen shrikhand and that was good….not sure about other desserts.
Might come back maybe once to splurge but not on my fav list.
Food – 7/10
Ambience – 9/10
Drinks. – 8/10
The food itself is where things get really interesting. Their take on vegetarian Indian cuisine is a major departure from what you’ll find at almost any other spot; it’s the kind of creative approach that people will either absolutely love or find a bit polarizing, but it’s undeniably unique. The Bellwether Farm ricotta dish was a standout—essentially a “dahi ke kebab” reimagined with ricotta—and the taro root chaat was lovely. While the flaxseed poe itself was just okay, the eggplant choka served with it was “too good,” and the squash blossom was absolutely amazing.
To round out the meal, the rumali roti and kulcha were both solid, though the hispi cabbage was just okay for me. Even with a few hits and misses on the specific textures, the flavors were consistently tasty and thought-provoking. Overall, it was a very positive experience, and I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something more adventurous than normal indian restaurants.
We booked through open table and it said a standard table which we mistook for indoor seating. It just means it’s a table for four, so if you want to be seated indoors call the restaurant. Patio seating is good but it felt cold on a rainy night even with the heaters. There is plenty parking in the basement.
Appetizers are the move here.
• Chaas Puchkas were tasty, just don’t go in expecting classic puchkas. It’s different, but I liked it.
• Taro root chaat was also good, and I appreciated the server asking if we wanted 4 pieces since it comes with 2 by default.
• Fried chicken with spicy aioli is the star dish for me. I’ve honestly never had fried chicken like this. I went back twice mainly because of this one dish.
Some misses for me:
• Crab Mutbar was average, nothing stood out. I’d skip.
• Flaked poee also felt average. The spinach avocado dip is a different touch, but still not memorable.
• Butter chicken was average here (not the thing to order).
Mains:
I’d honestly skip mains unless you’re super hungry. We tried hispi cabbage and it was average. Roasted Cornish hen and chicken yakhani were tasty if you like chicken dishes. Charred black cod was the weakest for me: average taste and very small portion.
Dessert:
• Indian milk cake ice cream was tasty.
• Eylan Celebration Treat was a bit too dark and had a cinnamon note I didn’t love. If you’re getting both, eat this one first, then the milk cake ice cream.
Service is nice and they explain each dish well, but it can be slow when they’re busy. Ambience is well done with dim lights, but it can get very noisy and tables are tight. Still a great spot for family, friends, or even an office dinner.
Celebrated my milestone birthday this month at the new buzz in town – Eylan Indian Restaurant. When the team behind Ettan, Copra, and Little Blue Door takes over, your expectations are bound to be high!☺️ and let me tell you, it lived up to every expectation!
Eylan has a unique and modern twist to our beloved Indian cuisine. Modern but authentic! From appetizers to desserts, every dish was made with robust flavors and came with a beautiful presentation! and yes, the grape chaas pani puri definitely stole the show! We tried a little bit of everything, and honestly, every bite was perfection.
Personalized service, cozy ambience, and such a beautiful setting to celebrate any special occasion! Highly recommended! Check it out!
