As my better half had a hair appointment close by and it was Superbowl Sunday (and no, we’re no US Football fans), we thought of making it a West L.A.day and walk over to this well-rated hangout…. and we actually Waymo’ed ourselves over which was an interesting experience. Our server had some good suggestions, and we went with the Fat Cug sandwich, bacon cheeseburger fries and a vegan shake. I’ll start with the fact that these orders are quite generous… we’re not huge eaters and could have been happy enough to either share the sandwich or the salad. Nice thing is that the salad is already in a plastic container, so easy to take home with you. The shake was OK, definitely had flavor but so does a peanut butter milkshake from for example Fice Guys. Sandwich OK as well, for the ones that do not mind having fries packed in, which will make it harder to reheat if you’d decide to eat half and take the other half home with you. As mentioned, the salad is probably the best bet as it mixes in some greens with the carbs. All in all, nice but, unfortunately for us Californians, cost of doing business here is atrocious and I would not expect to pay over 50 Bucks for the 3 items…. we got spoiled in the southern states and on the east coast with their large meals for less.

Visiting from the Fort Lauderdale area where there’s not a lack of trendy spots for delicious sandwiches and was impressed. The venue was decorated appropriately for what they served, the service was great and timely, and the food was so so delicious with generous servings. Not a place you want to visit if you’re on a diet but definitely worth the cheat day if you are on one. Plus I had my very first vegan milkshake…yuummm!

Great food joint down by Venice Beach. Worth every penny. I got the Italiano sub with Philly Cheese steak fries. Freaking amazing!

$20 for a sandwich and the thinly Sliced ribeye steak, is actually ground beef, I asked if that was a mistake, staff member said no, that is how it comes.
Went back to just be sure and ordered the highly recommended chicken and was even more disappointed. This is overpriced garbage and you would disappointed paying $10 let aline the $19,95 price.

I got the smash burger with fries and the spoon in Samoa shake. The burger was delicious. I could eat two! The shake is out of this world. I would say it’s the best shake I have had. Would highly recommend! Employees were also friendly and helpful.

Location is the main draw to this joint, but the food is also quite good. The sandwiches are big, and they need to be as they’re expensive. Service is casual with staff working at their own pace, taking their time to make and deliver sandwiches. The fries could be better, and there are plenty of sandwiches on the menu. The Philly cheesesteak is delicious and not greasy, as it tends to be in similar sub shops. A table outside is the ideal location for people watching.

Fat Sal’s is a glorious, messy symphony of flavor. I ordered their fully loaded “Fat” box—layered with fries, guac, steak, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and signature sauces—and it was an indulgent masterpiece. Not for the faint of heart or light appetites. Every forkful was rich, chaotic, and strangely beautiful—exactly what comfort food should be.
You don’t come to Fat Sal’s for dainty plating. You come for immaculate excess. This is the kind of food that hugs your cravings, slaps your diet, and makes your soul high-five your stomach. From the first bite to the last fork scrape against foil, it was an absolute win.
Pro tip: bring napkins, a healthy appetite, and zero shame. And if you’re in Venice Beach, this is the kind of spot that defines the experience—unapologetic, bold, and unforgettable.
If you know, you know—and now I know: The Jaquez is not just food, it’s a full-blown experience. This beast of a meal comes stacked with steak, crispy fries, fresh guac, melted cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and a mouthwatering blend of sauces, all smashed together in a foil tray that dares you to finish it. It’s wild, messy, creamy, crispy, and packed with flavor bombs in every bite.
This isn’t your typical fast food—it’s late-night therapy in edible form. It’s the kind of dish that tastes like someone read your mind and decided to solve all your problems with meat, carbs, and magic sauce. Fat Sal’s Venice Beach nailed it with this one.
The Jaquez hits like a legend. Come hungry, come bold, and don’t expect to share. This is the real Venice indulgence.
To be blunt it’s good, damn good!

I did a door dash order so I can’t speak for the layout of the store! I was staying at a hotel nearby so the food was very warm when I revived it. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich with seasoned fry’s and their sauce. That sandwich was HELLLA good. I’ve had a lot of Philly cheesesteak sandwich’s before but unlike this one never. The taste was un real. It didn’t look like much but the taste was there. I got the seasoned fry’s rather than the normal fry’s. I wasn’t a big fan of the seasoning used. The sauce was really good though.

We got Fat Sals after a late evening walking the beach in Venice. We ordered takeout and our food was ready in 20 minutes to pickup.
We ordered the Buffalo Chicken Double Smash burger and the Pepperoni Pizza Double Smash Burger with two sides of fries.
The “Fat Sauce” that comes with the fries is very reminiscent of a Cane’s or Braum’s sauce.
Portions were FAT, we definitely had leftovers.
