Very disappointed we were not told the hot tub was out of order ahead of time.
First off, the location itself is a bit of a head-scratcher. It’s tucked away inside a tiny gas station, which isn’t inherently a problem, but it makes it incredibly difficult to find. Unless you happen to spot the minuscule Subway sign clinging to the gas station’s facade, you’d never know it was there. It’s like a game of “Where’s Waldo,” but instead of Waldo, it’s a lukewarm footlong.
Upon entering, it was clear something was… amiss. The place was packed. Not just busy, but packed. It felt like I’d stumbled into some kind of impromptu hiring event. Navigating through the crowd to even reach the counter was a Herculean task. The gas station itself was also overflowing with people, creating a chaotic and claustrophobic atmosphere.
My friend and I both ordered the Spicy Nacho Chicken sub. Here’s where things went from bad to worse. We had different employees making our sandwiches. My sub looked like it had been assembled by a toddler with a vendetta against sandwiches. It was a mess, completely unlike the promotional pictures or even my friend’s (which, to be fair, looked like it was supposed to look). It was clear there was a serious lack of consistency in food preparation.
But the real kicker, the truly appalling part of this experience, was what I overheard during the sub-making process. The guy conducting interviews (amidst the chaos, mind you) was asking potential employees – and only the female applicants – if they had children. And then, he proceeded to explain how Subway doesn’t like to hire people with children because it gives them an excuse to call off work. I’m not kidding. I was absolutely floored. This blatant gender discrimination is not only unethical, it’s potentially illegal. I was so disgusted I could barely eat the slop of a sandwich I’d been given.
The food itself was equally disappointing. It was clear that the sandwiches were made with little care or attention to detail. It was just… ill-handled and sloppy. The Spicy Nacho Chicken? More like Spicy Nacho Disaster.
Between the confusing location, the chaotic atmosphere, the inconsistent and poorly made food, and the shockingly discriminatory hiring practices, this Subway experience was an absolute disaster. I will never go back. I’d rather eat a gas station hot dog (and that’s saying something). Avoid this Subway at all costs. You’ve been warned.
