I usually grab the shrimp tacos from El Agave for pick-up, and they’re ALWAYS on point — fresh shrimp , bold flavor ️, and perfect every time. One of my favorite go-to meals in Freehold!
✨ This time I switched it up and sat down for the Fried Tilapia… WOW! Crispy on the outside , tender & juicy inside , and plated beautifully with fresh sides . Every bite was a knockout.
Between the consistent shrimp tacos and that amazing tilapia, El Agave is truly a gem . Friendly staff , authentic flavors , and dishes that keep me coming back again & again.

On Friday, December 30, 2024, my family and I were in the Freehold area for a family activity. Since we were all hungry for dinner, we decided to eat some Mexican. El Agave was close by and had the highest ratings. After entering the restaurant, you can see that inside is very colorful and filled with culturally rich items. The food took some time to come out. I never had red rice before. However, I really enjoyed my entire meal. While other Mexican restaurants are skimming the patrons on the meal portions with increase prices, I felt this was not the case here.

Had a wonderful lunch here. Service was excellent with all of our requests accommodated without issue. Food was great with lots of flavor and authentic taste. We had all vegetarian dishes and the spicy sauces had great heat. Milder sauces were very flavorful, especially the salsa verde.

This was perfect, just what we were looking for! My husband and I wanted some good authentic Mexican and knew somewhere in Freehold would have it. We were thrilled to find this place and had exactly what we were looking for! Right from the empanada appetizers at the start, one of their amazing burritos and a dish I can’t remember but it was listed as 7A under the dinners! It also came with three little salsas and sauces which were all excellent! We will definitely be back to try more of their meals! Also, the decor is very cute and the service was great!

This restaurant was awesome, and one of the best Mexican restaurants I have tried in a long time. The food was exemplary and one thing that I thought the atmosphere was incredible. The restaurant had beautiful decor and you felt like you were in a whole new place. Unfortunately at first glance the restaurant is difficult to spot if you aren’t familiar with the area but that is not an issue. The customer service honestly is the best aspect. The man who served my party of 4 was such a kind and patient person answering the questions and describing dishes for us. He worked quickly and on top of that when we had told him we wanted to order desert for a party member’s birthday they had gone through the effort of getting a candle as well as playing birthday music throughout the store making the night truly majestic. If you ever have time you should go here. Not just for the food but the atmosphere and goodwill of the employees it’s simply not something you should miss out on and they have plenty of options for all types of people meaning that if you bring a large party, everyone in your party will definitely have something that they can eat, whether that be vegetarian meat or otherwise. Overall a great restaurant. Cannot wait to visit again.

El Agave is hands down the best Mexican in Freehold. Chips are think and authentic and the three salsas are all delicious. This has become a regular lunch stop for me and I’m never disappointed by anything on the menu!
