I am from out of town for work. I picked Shanghai for its google rating. It does not disappoint. Guy i dealt with was great. Friendly. I got pepper steak, i asked for more onion than peppers. He delivered that. I was a walk in. Ordered it to go. Prep was quick. Food is hot and tasty. I didnt want the rice but it does come with it. Also got 2 sodas.

Came in for the first time and the host somehow knew which was my pickup without me saying anything but pickup. Maybe it was the timing, but I saw quite a few packaged pickup orders. I guess the others must be regulars.
The host was very friendly.
Five spice duck: A lot of meat packed in. Normal they duck I have at other places has a fatty skin layer and a bone in each piece, but this place either rendered it soft or removed the bone. Was pleasantly surprised as it’s less work to eat. Would recommend.
Lake Tung ting shrimp: Clean feeling shrimp, felt fresh with just enough sweetness from the vegetables.
Szechuan pickle soup: Pickles like Chinese pickled veggies you’d get from a jar. Had plenty of pork in it too. Pleasantly surprised.

The food is truly good but the for the price there should be much more food in the combo platters. It’s 90% rice. As much as the owners are nice and welcoming, it doesn’t make up for the lack of protein. I ordered extra chicken and it was still mainly rice. Hong Kong Fusion is the same price and they give you a FULL platter of meat with rice on the side. Extremely generous portions. I can eat three meals from one combo platter and it’s excellent quality. I had sesame chicken from Shanghai and it was small pieces of thigh meat. Hong Kong uses huge all white meat chicken for their sesame chicken. In today’s climate, it’s hard to justify a high cost of a meal being mainly rice. Rice is the cheapest part of the meal. Been here a few times . Hate to say we won’t be back. Please reconsider the portion sizes and use less rice in combination platters. Good luck! I still wish this place well.

I just moved here and I was so upset I couldn’t find a Chinese place until MY CO WORKER TOLD ME about Shanghai Express. I ordered one day and it’s my absolute favorite Chinese food. I am so happy to have found them, they are so clean, customer service is excellent. Beautiful and inviting place. There’s always people ordering and dining in. A MUST!!!! The quality is amazing as well.

Our favorite place for chinese food; we had ribs that were large & meaty along with some young chow rice. Everything was still pretty hot by the time I got it home with some rice left over to pick at later (didn’t need to) AND the wife & I shared each item.

Ted is amazing! But he is nothing compared to the food! You can taste a complex array of spices that work in harmony. The meat isn’t lower-end but high quality. The prices are a bit higher, but you’re getting so much more than food soaked in soy sauce.

Always a warm greeting from the owner. Very tasty, hot, fresh food. Small dining room for inside eating. Good meaty spare ribs, flavorful fried rice with the combo platters.

As much as I wanted to give this restaurant 5 stars, I couldn’t. After reading the reviews and mostly positive I figured I’d give this one a try. Super disappointed after a few bites but of course finished my meal. Meal wasn’t bad just wasn’t that good for the cost. Customer service was on point so the other reviews got this right.
