Lilou, a French brasserie, opened January 2024. Helmed by Chef Benjamin Tilatti, who was born and raised between Gascony and the Basque Country in the very southwest of France. Lilou serves modern interpretations of classic fare as well as dishes inspired by his grandmother’s kitchen. Knoxville hospitality couple Aaron Thompson and Jessica King, who own and operate the acclaimed Brother Wolf aperitivo bar and Osteria Stella, also own and operate Lilou. Chef Benjamin’s creations are complemented by an exclusively French wine list that represents each of France’s wine producing regions, as well as cocktails powered by French spirits and modifiers. Lilou is located at 428 South Gay St. in the heart of downtown Knoxville.

What an amazing experience! We thought we successfully made a dinner reservation online but we did not. It was ok because the staff at Lilou got us a table and took great care of us. Our cheese board was amazing and very well selected for our group. The drinks and entrees were AMAZING! We ended the evening with a cappuccino and creme brûlée. If you are looking for a food experience downtown knoxville this is the place to go! Thank you again to the staff for getting us in on a busy night and taking such great care of us!

Our server, Abigail, made us feel right at home. She handled my husband’s dairy allergy better than any server we’ve encountered in Knoxville. She didn’t forget to include a little dairy-free treat at the end of our meal. He had an amazing dining experience and hasn’t had any issues since. We were hesitant to go, but we’ll definitely be back many times now that we know how accommodating the chef is.
Every dish, glass of wine, bread, and cheese was part of an artistic culinary journey that created an unforgettable masterpiece experience. We highly recommend dining there to our friends and family. What a lovely place! The decor is beautiful and elegant. Gilded paintings, green velvet banquets, rose glass chandelier and some fun art in the bar eaves. The food is excellent and our service was spectacular! Our server not only accommodated our preferences she made recommendations for future visits. We had omelets which were those creamy small curd slightly scrambled eggs wrapped around cheese (him) and spinach (me). Please remove hard woody spinach stems in future. Pain Au chocolate and fruit plus lattes served in beautiful China tea cups rounded out a wonderful breakfast. This place is exactly why eating out is a joy. We will return!

Totally overrated! The place is beautiful and charmingly decorated however the food was missing flavor and the prices were too high for the quality they offer. $16 for the Benedict’s that don’t come with any fries or salad but a bunch of weird greens, $15 for an onion soup with no gratine nor flavor or bread inside. And duck fat fries that tasted like normal and we feel just scammed. Forgot to mention the restaurant was almost empty on a Saturday at 1pm and it still took them over 40 mins to bring food to our table and we were only 4 people. I don’t think I’ll try it for dinner…

Our server, Abigail , was simply phenomenal. It was clear from the start that she wasn’t just taking our order; she was guiding us through a culinary journey. Her knowledge of the menu was encyclopedic, offering perfect pairings and inspired recommendations with a genuine, warm personality. I asked Abigail about the different cheeses, and she did not only described its preparation and ingredients with passion but also provided insightful suggestions that elevated our meal. Went for a date night and we had the best time. With great food! We love to sit at the bar! We had the Rossini- a melt in your mouth filet with fois gras and the best potatoes! We also had the Beef Bourguigon which is like a French stew. Simply put this dish gave me all the feels of wonderful home cooked meal! Not pictured the steaming hot escargot and the warm pull apart baguette with the best butter imaginable! We liked to dip the baguette in the garlicky butter sauce of the escargot as well! Also being pregnant they made me a fancy chocolate milk martini with an orange twist! We have been several times to Lilou and have even come for brunch and have not left disappointed! Highly recommend for a cocktail and appetizer, date night, or even for breakfast/ brunch!

I’ve been to Lilou on two occasions now for celebrations. Both times, the staff has made a point to make our experience special!! I’ve been for a birthday and they brought us a complimentary profiterole with a birthday candle, it was sooo cute! We celebrated an anniversary there as well and got complimentary champagne. Everything I’ve had there was truly delicious and the atmosphere is fantastic!!

My friend and i went here, for the first time, for a girls day out. We went here for Sunday brunch with lice music. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The ambiance made you feel like you walked right into an intimate restaurant in the heart of France. The service was great. Yhe food was amazing. One thing on the menu was crepes – you could choose from a sweet or savory version. I chose sweet with berries, yum! I also loved all of the artwork. If I had one thing to improve, it would be not having regular coffee with refills. They had other selections like cappuccino (which i selected) and expresso. But I just wanted a couple of coffees with my brunch.

The food and service was amazing! The restaurant Is very nostalgic with lots of downtown history. The food was amazing. We had 3 different cheeses, baguette, Oysters with amazing flavors, my filet mignon was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The drinks were all great and loved my pickle martini. We will definitely be back.
