As a Nepali, I am always seeking for food that feels like home. They have hands down the best Veg Momo and chowmein. All of my friends love them (including my best friend who is vegetarian) when i introduced the food to them. Their favorites were paneer tikka, garlic naan with goat curry and samosa chaat:) I love this place, felt respected and appreciated their hospitality. Whenever I do take out, it’s always piping hot and spice is perfect.

Wonderfully consistent and reliable. Friendly staff and excellent food that arrives quickly! The fried calamari and pakora are a must-have. And the rice pudding! The entrees are varied and will suit all tastes and diets. We regularly have the sag paneer and a korma or tikka masala. We’re lucky to have Kathmandu in downtown Storrs!

This is the first time I’ve ever had Indian food. I’m not kidding. The folks I was with are spice-averse, so we had to order everything mild, which is too bad because I wanted to see if I could handle a fiery vindaloo. I guess I’ll have to come back by myself! But even mild, the food was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. Very enjoyable. The service was prompt and polite, too.

Very interesting experience:

Service 2 points didn’t give water or spoons or forks
Food:
Tandoori chicken 2/5 it comes on a sizzler! Tbh my friends always order it and they love it today it wasn’t as good but tbh worth a shot!

Panner tikka and chicken tikka way better! Way good tbh! Must try!

Chilli panner 4/5 they said it didn’t have color but idk!
Samosa chat: they were kind to make it twice for me but I would not recommend it at all. Not worth it. Too salty and I don’t even know what was going on!

Momos were okayish not bad truely depends

The staff was very busy with other work but very kind omg so calm, and respectful,

Overall it’s a pure hit or a miss experience!

Highly recommend this place. I went there once when I was visiting the university and I’ve had to visit every single time I go to Connecticut now.

I got the vegetable Talis and my husband got the chicken – both were delicious. My daughter got the chicken mono as her dinner and it was plenty for a meal. My other daughter got the chicken curry and the garlic naan. Everything was tasty, service was amazing. We are traveling but we all said we would come back again tomorrow.

solid. I ordered a few Indian dishes everything was flavorful, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. The mango lassi, though, was a miss; too sweet and not very fresh-tasting. Still, the food more than made up for it. Definitely worth a visit if you’re craving good Indian food in the area.

I wish I could give 4.5 stars. Overall a great experience – flavorful food with just the right amount of spice. My only negative was that there were small bone pieces in one of our dishes which came as a bit of a surprise when taking a bite!

This place has changed hands a couple of times. The first and second owners were excellent. Whoever owns it now could use some pointers. Maybe it was an off day, and I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt, but here are my suggestions based on my experience.

First suggestion I have is to hire a bartender who knows their drinks. I ordered a margarita. It came in one of those cactus glasses, half full, no salt on the rim, no ice, no lime wedge. My husband ordered a dark and stormy which came in a short glass and just the tiniest splash of ginger beer. Both drinks came straight up. They were a bit underwhelming and not how they’re traditionally made. Learn your cocktails or hire someone who already knows.

Second suggestion is to double check the order with the customers. You can do this by just repeating back what you wrote down. I ordered a chicken curry and ended up with aloo gobi.

Also, the Peshwari naan isn’t as it’s described in the menu. The menu says it is stuffed with raisins and nuts. What arrived was naan bread stuffed with pink food-dyed coconut. People have allergies, and menu accuracy is extremely important.

Lastly, check on your customers every once in awhile, preferably a minute or two after their food has arrived, especially if the meal was delivered by a runner. They might need things like extra napkins, more water, or to tell you their order was wrong. It’s nice for the customers and it’s just good service to do so. The place was entirely empty besides us, so this should have been easy to do.

This is my least important suggestion, but I’d still like to offer it: maybe put on some music to create more of an ambience. We were the only two people in the restaurant and it was dead silent the whole time. Sitting in silence can feel awkward. Background music adds a level of comfort and warmth. It creates a welcoming environment. It also masks the sounds from the kitchen. Create an atmosphere! Fill our senses. Make us feel like we’re in Nepal. Or give us more of an idea of the culture. It’s one of the joys of eating out somewhere. Feeling transported to another place for a little while.

I really want this place to continue to succeed. We need quality Indian/Nepalese food in the area and I would love to see this place come back to its former excellence. I hope this review is received with an opened mind and no offense is taken. I’m genuinely coming from a place of wanting to help. The woman who served us was very sweet and apologetic for putting in the wrong meal. She greeted us and sat us as soon as we arrived. I have no hard feelings towards her. It just needs a few tweaks and I hope my suggestions have been helpful. I just want everyone there to thrive.
