La Chula Vida is not just a restaurant; it is an experience. While we waited for our savory shrimp and perfectly crisp coconut shrimp, our server amazed us with magic tricks that truly blew our minds. It was a fun and unexpected highlight that made the afternoon even more special. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, all in a relaxed and tropical setting. This spot gets everything right. Highly recommended.

Found this spot as my son was looking for pizza. They only serve pizza on the weekends but we have been back a couple times since and everything we have eaten has been great! Prices are good and the service is great.
Love the wasabi tuna, guacamole, tacos and the coconut shrimp.
Highly recommend!

If you’re visiting Zihuatanejo and willing to venture slightly off the beaten path, Chula Vida on Playa Blanca is the definition of a destination worth the drive. Nestled directly on the beach, this open-air restaurant delivers one of the most serene and scenic dining experiences in the region. With the waves rolling just steps away, it’s an unbeatable setting to unwind and indulge.
We’ve been coming to Chula Vida for over 12 years, and it remains a staple on every visit. The service is phenomenal—friendly, attentive, and genuine. Be sure to ask for the owner when you visit; his hospitality and passion for the restaurant are part of what makes this place so special. The entire staff reflects that same welcoming energy, creating an atmosphere that feels like home.
The food? Consistently outstanding. There are two dishes that absolutely can’t be missed:
• The ajito (garlic-chile sauté, often with shrimp or octopus) is a house specialty—rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced every time.
• And the Ahi tuna? Without question, the best we’ve ever had. Perfectly seared, fresh, and melt-in-your-mouth tender—this dish alone is worth the visit.
The guacamole is another highlight—simple, fresh, and somehow better with each return.
Chula Vida isn’t just a beach restaurant—it’s a culinary destination that’s absolutely worth the short drive from town. If we lived here, we’d eat here every day. Until then, it’s a must on every trip back to Zihuatanejo.

This is one of the best emranadas on Playa Blanca. Their ceviche is incredible. Their service is excellent. The dog is adorable. The owner really takes care to make sure the food is top notch. Every time we visit Playa Blanca we go here multiple times. The sashimi and wasabi aren’t offered other places and are delicious. The coconut shrimp are some of the best on the beach. Highly recommend.

On a Thursday night in high season (February), they offered only drinks and pizza. Didn’t accept credit or debit cards despite what Google Maps otherwise indicates.

I’m writing this review with some reluctance as it’s a gem that I’d rather keep a secret. However, the atmosphere is fabulous, everything on the menu is delicious and the service is great. My menu favourites are the tuna wasabi, tuna sashimi, tiritas, seafood pasta alfredo, coconut shrimp and the tacos. You can’t go wrong at Chula Vida, Jorge the owner is the best host and you will fall in love with this place.
