I’m just gonna put this out there, out of every restaurant in the entire Brainerd Lakes area… Joe is the ultimate chef. I said what I said. There’s not one dish that is anything short of perfect. They even add fun little touches here and there. The service has never been anything but prompt, friendly, and professional. When our daughter comes up to visit, this is what she requests. We will continue to spread the word that Sunshine’s is a must!

We started with some cheese curds – a favorite for us all!
My husband got the special of the evening – Brisket with pork mac and cheese and mixed vegetables. I had to try it – so good!!
I had the Cali Rice Bowl and it was so tasty!!!
I almost forgot! My husband’s dinner came with the house soup – tomato bisque – it was my favorite out of everything!!!
Our server Jayna was wonderful ‐ friendly informative and super attentive!!

The Sunshine’s Summerhouse is a fun place with a very Key West, FL. vib. The music and the vib reminded us of Key West. The menu had a lot of options. I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Tater Tots. The pork was excellent in flavor and texture. The totes were cooked perfect in clean oil to a golden color. My spouse had the BBG Wings. She said the were good, but not the best she has had. Her preference is boneless wings. Our daughter has the Firecracker Shrimp Salad and she said it was awesome!!! We all sa.pled the shrimp and they were excellent. Overall the dish has just the right amount of heat, ot too hot/spicy, but just right. The grandkids ate all their food as well. Very rare that they eat all their food so they must have liked it. The French Fries are like a beer batter fries and were excellent and cooked to perfection. To wrap up the meal we had the Mini Key Lime Pie and a Hot Fudge Brownie. Both again were excellent! The service was good, they were using an IPad for the orders so waitress said was her second day with the IPad so ordering was a little slow.

Sunshine’s Summerhouse delivered the most delicious catered meal to our resort! The BBQ burnt end sandwiches were amazing, best coleslaw I’ve ever had, yummy beans and macaroni and cheese. I can’t forget the fabulous bread pudding! So so good! Joe was fantastic to work with and I highly recommend this place!

We had a really lovely time here, and would recommend it to anybody. They had a great selection of classics, and some more unique spins as well. We started with the duck confit wontons, which were very tasty, but small. I wish the duck flavor took a little more center stage, it’s subtlety was lost a bit to stronger flavors. We got a chicken parmesan, which was drilled with some fresh pesto – a killer touch that took this dish from good to great. We also got a brisket sandwich which was smoky and spicy, and the meat practically melted away in your mouth. The fries were also light and crispy, good quality. We got a brownie a la mode for dessert, and it was ooey gooey and decadent. The waitstaff was friendly and welcoming, and the decor was charming.

Seemed newly remodeled. Good variety of creative foods. Tomato soup seemed homemade and had a quality flavor. Pork tacos had lots of flavor and was fresh. Burger meat was well cooked and quality bun.

We recently visited Sunshine Summerhouse in Nisswa on the recommendation of a friend, looking forward to a quiet evening out after a challenging day. Upon arrival, we were given a choice of tables or booths, and we opted for a cozy booth towards the back. The food and service were very good, and I would certainly recommend the menu.
However, our experience was marred by a group of six individuals at the bar who were extremely loud and obnoxious, seeming completely unaware of the impact they were having on other customers. It made it nearly impossible for us to have a conversation at times. Unfortunately, the staff seemed somewhat indifferent to the situation, possibly due to the slow season and a desire to avoid upsetting any customers.
While the food was enjoyable, the atmosphere was not what we had hoped for, making me hesitant to return or recommend it to others.

Was visiting my sister’s house near Gull Lake and went to Sunshine’s based on a recommendation. Noticed immediately the number of large parties, many 6-8 person tables like us. So, seems to be a big hit with large groups. That being said with the big groups it generates a lot of noise especially in a relatively small space. So, if you’re looking for something quiet this is probably not for you. Second, the service missed its spot on a few things, our waitress forgot to bring my soft drink (made up for it with giving me two about 10 minutes later), forgot to provide dipping sauce for the kids chicken tenders and on one of the bowls one of our party didn’t get dill sauce added to his bowl which made the dish incomplete. Finally and on the positive, their food was a big hit. I had the very interesting lasagna soup as a starter. Contained large chunks of sausage, mini lasagna noodles, stewed tomatoes and topped with a swirl of cheese. Even though I am not a stewed tomato fan the soup was very tasty. For my entree had their SunmerHouse burger that came with two patties, caramelized onions and their special sauce. As an option had the bacon as well. Advertised as best burger in Brainerd Lakes I couldn’t disagree because it was absolutely delicious! Don’t eat too many burgers but would try this again if I went back. Rest of the table had food ranging from the various bowls to their street tacos and all were positively received. All the kids, ranging from ages 4-7 devoured their chicken tenders and fries as well. Sunshine’s also has a spacious and relaxing outside patio which wasn’t utilized that day due to bad weather. Food was awesome, service spotty even though friendly and noise a slight issue. Big recommendation on the food and if you can deal with a slightly louder environment would stop by if in the Brainered Lakes area.
