Stopped by Mayan Family Mexican Restaurant for a meal and was pleasantly surprised by the food! Everything was flavorful, well-prepared, and satisfying. The restaurant itself was pretty empty when we arrived, which made for a quiet dining experience.
Our server, an older gentleman, was incredibly courteous and welcoming. However, the initial greeting from the two younger staff members left something to be desired—they didn’t seem particularly enthusiastic or welcoming. Not sure what the issue was, but it didn’t set the best first impression.
That said, the food more than made up for it, and we’ll definitely be back! Hopefully, the overall service experience improves, but if you’re looking for solid Mexican cuisine, this spot delivers.

So disappointed! I previously had the chicken fajitas at the Pacific Ave location and they were delicious! The charred chicken and caramelized onions and peppers were some of the best I have ever had. Ordered the same thing as takeout from the Yelm Hwy location and they were awful. Plain grilled chicken with translucent onions and peppers. The chips were good.

I was born and raised and Fort Worth, Texas and this place is the BEST mexican food I’ve ever eaten in Washington state!!!
We have lived here 2.5 years and yesterday was the first time I’ve ever been it was absolutely the best Mexican food in Washington state that we have had. It was so good we ate there today too. The strawberry daiquiri was to die for the steak and chicken fajitas were mouth watering the burrito was amazing. The service was absolutely amazing. I love this place!!

We’ve been coming here since moving to the area but I unfortunately will not be coming back. That’s saying a lot because I worked in service for years so have been understanding even when service is consistently slow. I always have to order my queso then my meal after I get the queso, because otherwise they bring it all at once, even when I specify. Today was really the cherry on top though! We waited for about 5 minutes, then an 8 top table came in behind us and they were greeted first by our server and had their order in before us. If you have worked in restaurants you know how this can really slow things down. We come in about once a month and always tip well, despite how poor the service is. I don’t expect fine dining but I also don’t care to be ignored when I’m spending money.

Service was ok. Food is bland and boring. I actually got sick eating here. They use way to much cheese. authentic Mexican spices either aren’t present or can’t can be distinguished because of the amount of cheese. Will not return.
