What wast of time and what a wast of money. I order chicken biriyani and butter chicken with naan. What I got is taste less chicken curry with mixed rice as a biriyani. Butter chicken was swimming in the some kind of a milk. To get this all I was waiting over 50 min. Finally they didn’t give me a receipt even. When I get back to my hotel I found spilled curry all over the bag. Service was so bad and, I was waiting is side the restaurant over 40 min and non of the staff didn’t come and talk to me about my order. Then I ask one of the guy and he told me an a joke “ he got over 500 orders” and he is doing is best to give my order soon. Even this restaurant can’t manage 50 orders. Please don’t go to this restaurant in Portsmouth. Please find a different restaurant if you really want to enjoy an Asian or Indian food. Ideally this is not the place to be.

This was my second time ordering from Purple Mango, and both experiences have been fantastic!
The staff were incredibly friendly on both occasions, and the food arrived hot and absolutely delicious. Honestly, this is the best curry I’ve had in Portsmouth — hands down.
The first time, I dined in with a friend, and we were blown away by how good everything was. I’ve been recommending it to everyone since!
The second time, I ordered a takeaway because I couldn’t stop thinking about that first meal — and it didn’t disappoint. The food was piping hot, full of flavour, perfectly spiced, and just as amazing as dining in.
Their dansak in particular is sensational — rich, balanced, and bursting with flavour. Truly a 5-star experience every time!

Well done Chef! Fantastic Takeaway! This was an Uber Eats emergency, needing some food before catching the ferry to IOW. Just ordered a couple of curries and 3 different nans late last night at 11pm but really impressed with the quality.
The lamb madras was really well spiced, the ginger and scotch bonnet chillies really brought out the fruityness in the dish. The chicken was not overcooked in the chicken tikka masala which I often find in Indian restaurants they can easily overcook it and it goes dry.
Overall very tasty, good value for money and left me wanting to check the other dishes on the menu. The nan breads were also good but I think at nearly £5 each they are overpriced for what they are. I’ll just order rice next time.

I visited this place on a Wednesday before my show at Kings theatre. I have to say the decor and the astetics of the place were amazing and very clean. All the waiters were accommodating and all had smiless. We ordered our papadom which comes with the usual trio of mint sauce, mango chutney and onion salad. The mint sauce was lovely. Light in colour but with a spicy kick in the end. For starters we ordered the prawn puree, onion bhaji and chicken tikka. The prawn puree was light in sauce and the puree bread was delicious thin and not covered in oil, bhajee was crispy and cooked well but not to well done.The tikka was lovely served in a sizzler with garnish.
The mains we ordered a Madras, Dhansank and a special dish (which I can’t remember the name but it did have a boiled egg in it) we also had a keema rice a chana rice a pilau rice and plain nann and a peshawari nann
The mains, now iv eaten alot of Indians but I can honestly say iv never eaten a curry what was fresh and so light, they all didn’t seem they were cooked in a pan full of oil and gheee and all had such great tasting flavour and the nanns the peshawari was actually a full off peshawari and the rice was so light and fluffy. A great meal what left us full but not heavy

By far our favourite Indian restaurant, we mostly order takeaway and it’s always ready to collect in no time at all, the food is always fantastic and fresh and the staff there are very friendly and attentive. Always recommend them to friends and family visiting Southsea.

The staff are very friendly and attentive, with a good sense of humour. The restaurant itself is decorated in a modern fashion.
Our order took around 20 minutes to be served. All of the food was well prepared and very tasty. All of the meats were well cooked and most importantly very tender. I feel you can always tell a good curry house by the tenderness of their meat; no puns what so ever!
Would recommend eating here if you like curry and are in the area. It’s one of the best in Albert Road in my opinion.
