We started with the butterfly potato shrimp, the braised pork bao, and the chashu bao. I’d skip the butterfly potato shrimp. It had an odd flavor, and the texture was off. I wouldn’t call it pleasant. My sister enjoyed her braised pork bao, but the chashu left me wanting more. The pork slice was paper-thin, and at over four dollars per bao, I expected something a bit more substantial.
I originally tried to order the omurice, but it turns out it’s only available on weekends. There was no note about that on the menu that I could find, which was frustrating.
I ended up with the black garlic ramen, and that turned out to be a winner. The broth was rich and full of garlicky depth, perfectly balanced without being overpowering. My sister had the ground pork chashu rice, and it was also fantastic. The house-made yum sauce really tied it all together.
Overall, I left with mixed feelings. The ramen and rice bowl were both excellent, but the appetizers and the lack of menu clarity brought the experience down. Considering how far I had to drive to get there, it might be a while before I make the trip again.
Let’s begin with the miso ramen soup, a bowl that is as much a work of art as it is a culinary triumph. The broth, a rich and velvety blend of white miso, is both umami-packed and perfectly balanced, with a subtle sweetness that lingers on the palate. The noodles, house-made and cooked to a flawless al dente, provide the ideal texture—springy yet tender, soaking up the broth’s complex flavors without losing their integrity. Topped with a vibrant medley of fresh scallions, nori, and a perfectly jammy soft-boiled egg, each spoonful is a harmonious symphony of savory, creamy, and earthy notes. The addition of tender pork chashu adds a melt-in-your-mouth decadence, making this bowl a must-try for ramen aficionados and newcomers alike.Equally impressive is the chicken ramen soup, a lighter yet equally captivating offering. The broth, simmered to golden perfection, is a delicate balance of chicken essence and aromatic herbs, with a clarity that speaks to the kitchen’s dedication to quality. It’s comforting yet refined, with a subtle depth that unfolds with each sip. The noodles here are just as impeccable, paired with succulent slices of grilled chicken that carry a hint of smokiness, elevating the dish to something truly special. Fresh shiitake mushrooms and a sprinkle of black pepper add a layer of sophistication, making this bowl a standout for those seeking a lighter, yet deeply satisfying, ramen experience.
But the true star of my visit—and my personal favorite—was the takoyaki. These golden orbs of perfection are a testament to the kitchen’s skill and creativity. Each bite-sized ball is crisp on the outside, yielding to a warm, creamy interior that bursts with the briny, oceanic flavor of tender octopus. Drizzled with a delicate balance of tangy takoyaki sauce and a touch of Japanese mayo, they’re finished with a flourish of bonito flakes that dance enticingly atop the dish. The interplay of textures—crisp, creamy, and chewy—combined with the umami-rich flavor profile, makes these takoyaki an absolute delight. They’re the kind of dish that sparks conversation, whether you’re sharing them with friends or savoring them solo while marveling at their artistry.
10 out of 10 experience.
Honestly, for the price of the bubble tea, it is too watered down. It needs more flavor mix and milk. The bubbles were overcooked, so it lost its bouncy chewiness. Side note, there should be an asterisk denoting the additional charge of $0.75 for boba on all drinks other than the brown sugar bubble milk tea. I thought for $6.75 the drinks would come with boba. If you do want to try a drink, of the three, the brown sugar bubble milk tea was the better one. The bigger letdowns were the ramen. The portions were small for what they charged. The noodles were a bit overcooked and lacked the chewy nature of ramen. What’s more, the use of poor quality canned bamboo made the tonkatsu ramen extremely fishy. The broth in both ramen bowls significantly lacked flavor. The bean sprouts tasted like they were unwashed. The chicken katsu was meant for a 4-yo, so we confirmed whether it was spicy. It is mildly spicy, but the peppery curry was unfortunately too spicy for my 4-yo. The fried rice that came with the chicken katsu tasted like unflavored cheap, fast food takeout.
RãRamen, please ask your chef to work on the flavor profile of the menu. I understand that times are difficult and everything is expensive, but I don’t mind paying more for quality food and taste! The service is spectacular here and the ambiance is superb. Would love to have this ramen establishment remain for years to come. We’re praying there are better updates in the reviews to come. Would love to give this establishment another try.
My wife got the Black Garlic Ramen and I got the Spicy Miso Ramen. My food allergies were taken into careful consideration, and substitutions were made without any issues at all.
The food was made to order, and it was WORTH THE WAIT. The noodles? Perfectly chewy and soft and served in generously dense portions. The broth? Rich, deep and flavorful, and bold. The Shoyu eggs? Perfectly jammy, warm, and full of flavor. The chashu pork? Tender, flavorful, and juicy. The rest of the toppings were perfectly portioned as well and were plated beautifully.
We ended with a small plate of vanilla mochi, and were extremely satisfied.
We will 100% be back again!
I got the black garlic ramen, would do it again.
My husband got the spicy miso ramen, he recommended this to anyone who enjoys spicy, but it could’ve been spicier.
My son got the kids chicken ramen. He loved it so much he had leftovers the next day.
For appetizers, we did [our] standard fried gyoza (pictured) and some chicken skewers. The kids ate all the chicken skewers and asked for more! They were very good.
We had the Chicken Katsu/White Rice (pictured), Curry Ramen (pictured), and kids Ramen x2 for the meals. All great and very flavorful. Katsu is a rare find around Raleigh.
