Ninja Express – Fast, Flavorful, and Fun!

From the moment I stepped through the door of Ninja Express, I knew I was in for something special. The warm lighting, casual yet inviting décor, and faint aroma of fresh sushi rice and sizzling stir‑fry immediately set the stage for an unforgettable meal. What I didn’t expect was the delightful surprise of seeing young family members pitching in behind the counter — smiling, efficient, and clearly part of the restaurant’s heartbeat. It gave the entire experience a charming, home‑style feel that’s rare to find in a fast‑casual dining spot.

The ordering process was quick and easy. The staff — both adults and the young helpers — worked together like a well‑choreographed team, moving with the precision that lives up to the “Ninja” in the restaurant’s name. You could tell that everyone there took pride in what they were doing, from carefully plating sushi rolls to making sure the tables stayed spotless.

Now let’s talk about the food — the true star of the show. The sushi was nothing short of phenomenal. Each roll was a perfect balance of flavor and texture, with fresh fish that practically melted in my mouth. The rice was seasoned just right, slightly tangy with that signature hint of sweetness. I tried several rolls, but the standout for me was the Dragon Roll, which layered avocado, eel, and a drizzle of eel sauce in such harmony it could have been a symphony. The Spicy Tuna Roll packed just the right amount of heat without overwhelming the clean taste of the tuna.

Beyond the sushi, Ninja Express offers a variety of cooked dishes that are just as impressive. Their teriyaki chicken was tender, juicy, and bathed in a glaze that struck a perfect sweet‑savory balance. The stir‑fried noodles had a satisfying chew, tossed with crisp vegetables that still had a nice bite to them — a sure sign they’re cooked to order.

One of the things I appreciated most was how quickly the food arrived, without sacrificing quality. True to the “Express” in their name, this is a place you can visit for a fast lunch break or a relaxed dinner. The speed of service, paired with the evident care in preparation, made the whole experience seamless.

As I enjoyed my meal, I couldn’t help but notice the friendly banter between the staff and customers. There’s a real sense of community here. The presence of the children helping behind the counter added an authentic family‑business charm — not in a gimmicky way, but in a way that reminded me of small neighborhood spots where everyone pitches in.

By the time I left, I was already planning my next visit. Ninja Express is more than just a place to grab a quick bite — it’s a reminder that great food, fast service, and genuine hospitality can all live under the same roof. Whether you’re craving expertly made sushi or hearty cooked dishes, this is a restaurant that delivers on all fronts. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good food served with heart.

My husband and I have gotten sushi here multiple times and we really enjoy the cooked rolls! We have eaten at some other, much more expensive sushi places and left saying “that was not as good as ninja express”.

The food is really good and the portions are plenty. It can get a little pricey, but it is worth it. The closest comparison (if you’re from around here) would be Yamato Steakhouse in Marion. Also they offer dine in, takeout, drive thru and they deliver. I don’t know how far though. I added pics of the menu, indoor seating (they have some outdoor too) and some of the food we ordered. We will be going back for sure!!

I eat here often. Both the sushi and the Chinese dishes are exceptional and very fairly priced. Aside from that, the family who owns and runs the restaurant is so nice and provides great customer service. I’m very happy they decided to move to Wabash.

Update: I tried the General’s Chicken for the first time last night. It was recommended as something new for me to try. They make it a little spicy, the way is should be! Too many midwestern places just make it overly sweet and without the heat. It was delicious!

We wanted to try a local place for a quick bite. The clerk was friendly enough. They had to take our cards to another room to run the charges. There’s no fountain drinks, it is broken so everything is in a small fridge. The decor was fun. There’s a turtle at the counter in a way too small aquarium!
We got bento boxes and tempura vegetables. The coating tasted like pancake batter and they need to change the oil in their deep fryer. The rice is weird, flavorless and inedible. California roll was decent enough but they fell apart and had to eat with a spoon. Crab Rangoon had cream cheese but no crab or seasoning in the soggy, greasy wrap, again with more of that oil that needs to be changed. Overall a great waste of $20.

Would never have expected to find such great sushi in Wabash! It was very fast and tasted great. I got two classic rolls: spicy white tuna and honey peanut avocado. I had never seen a honey peanut avocado roll anywhere, and it was delicious. My family also got a Fantastic Roll, Play Boy Roll, and Hibachi chicken. Everyone loved thier meals, especially the sushis. The staff was really friendly as well and got us our food quickly. Would recommend swinging by!

From the look of the place on the outside, you wouldn’t expect much. Former burger joint turned into an oriental eatery. Delicious food. Friendly staff. Could use some work on the exterior of the building and update their sign. Never really busy.

Food was really good for the price! Rice was warm enough to be fresh, smelled good (which is usually a problem with not fresh sushi). Chopsticks easy to grasp. Music jammable. Nice people. Cute turtle.
