Our first time here on their Dosa Nights on Thursdays. It was a fairly busy night for them even though it was a weekday. The owner was very welcoming and got us seated right away at a table for 2. Initially, we were hesitant about the unlimited dosa option since it might be too much for one person, but the owner promised us we wouldn’t regret it and we’d definitely love it. The promise was kept, and we walked out happy and full.
Coming to the dosa night options themselves, it included pongal, one idli, 3 types of chutneys, vada, sambar, rasam, and rava kesari along with six types of dosas that we could order unlimited: Karam dosa, Masala dosa, Onion dosa, Mysore Masala dosa, Plain dosa, and Podi dosa. Chutneys and podi with ghee were also served as requested. I tried Karam dosa and Onion dosa. I just devoured Karam dosa as soon as it appeared on my plate. I may be picky about vada, I didn’t fully finish it since it’s oily for me, but everything else tasted so good, and this dinner definitely took me back to India for a couple of hours. Surely coming back to their other dishes. Keep it up, Madurai Kitchen!

Walked in and was immediately greeted by the friendly owner. Had the Chaat all you can it and it was amazing! Also got a creamy curry that was delicious. We got a drink from a root that was also yummy. I didn’t know vegetarian food could taste so good!! Thank you for the amazing food and atmosphere!

Excellent South Indian veg food at a reasonable price. The dishes were authentic and portions generous. My husband and I chatted with the owner who was friendly without being intrusive. We had the Maha Thali which was well prepared and flavorful. We will definitely return!

The Maha thali was great! All items were good and I recommend going early. The ilaneer payasam and pineapple rasam was particularly good. The owner was friendly and accommodating offering refills. The ambience was good too. Overall good value for money.

This is an absolute must-visit for anyone craving authentic South Indian cuisine! Every delicacy we tried was excellent and bursting with flavor. The service was impressively quick and friendly, and the owner is truly a wonderful person who makes you feel right at home. A top-tier recommendation for vegetarians!

Visited for lunch over the weekend. It was crowded but the place was under staffed & had to wait a lot of time to be seated though tables were available.
Dosa was delicious but thali was average! Coffee was very strong & average. Service was very poor & needs improvement.

Nice addition to the San Diego food scene. Especially for South Indian food as there have been very limited choices otherwise. Right off the bat the menu is very fresh and inviting. We tried the thali and dosas over two visits and they were all good…Actually the regular thali over weekday and “maha thali” over the weekend. To be honest the maha thali is a bit too much (just more sweets and 2-3 curries).. they should give the option of the regular thali over the weekend as well.
The podi for rice is a nice touch and all the dosas were well made and tasty! (our group tried several varieties). Ghee and oil were provided but honestly we could not make out the difference (maybe as we are used to homemade ghee.. they both smelt the same to several in our group).
Main suggestions would be-
1) keep regular thali option available over weekend
2) seems to be already focusing on catering orders .. I think dine-in menu availability should be equal if not more priority
3) more focus on cleanliness and interior decor experience especially as it is a nice space that can be spruced up.
Look forward to more visits here! Definitely recommend!
