At Sarto, we believe that poring over the details is always worth it; and that the joys of a meal go far beyond the food itself. In keeping with Italy’s authentic, old-world traditions, we’ve approached our menu in much the same way an Italian chef opening a restaurant here in America might ── with dishes composed of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, that honor our region in a modern way.
Prepared from an open concept kitchen, our menu features modern Italian fare made with the freshest local ingredients Rhode Island has to offer, complimented by award – winning wines and a carefully curated cocktail program.

This was our first time dining here, we stopped in before we caught a show at PPAC. The space is beautiful modern, warm, and energetic without feeling overwhelming. From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming, and attentive without hovering. The food was great. We started with the focaccia bread, then i had the smoke mushroom cacio e pepe with steak tips on top. The restaurant itself was very nice inside and offered plenty of seating. And a nice terrace seating option is available for the summer months. If your in the downtown area, and looking to try something new, swing by Sarto and check this place out. Its worth the stop.

We’ve visited this restaurant three times, and each experience has been truly remarkable, particularly for the exceptional service and the outstanding flavor profile of their food. The ambiance is delightful, and the staff are attentive and friendly

This is probably some of the best Italian food I’ve had in Providence (yes, including most of Federal Hill). Very close to authentic Italian pasta -the smoked mushroom cacio e pepe was *to die for*. The service and ambiance were also amazing. 10/10, definitely recommend for a a great meal, date night, birthday, etc.

First night in town — chose this spot as it was close to our hotel up the block and was an excellent choice! The staff were super friendly and accommodating to our needs — we were sitting at a high table but the seats were uncomfortable so we were able to relocate to a normal table; I had the Seared Scallops which were mouth-watering to the taste buds — just wish it had more scallops and clams though! Overall, great choice for some unique dishes and flavors — just a bit over-priced

Let’s start off with the good aspects…live jazz, good atmosphere and service was good. Now let’s talk about the bad. The food. Really bad, especially for the cost. The branzino main sat under the heat lamp for way too long, was overcooked and had no flavor. We replaced it with the gnocchi with added chicken, but the chicken was not cooked fresh for the meal. It was a rotisserie chicken cooked previously and shredded. The gnocchi and arrabbiata sauce were good. Our starters were disappointing and not convinced the calamari (which was very chewy) was cooked in the restaurant at any point in the evening. I saw a bag ripped open and poured into the salad. We were excited by reviews and loved the jazz music but sadly won’t be going back.

Brunch at Sarto was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish.
The atmosphere immediately sets the tone. Warm, stylish, and welcoming without feeling pretentious. The space was spotless, thoughtfully laid out, and had just the right energy for a relaxed but elevated brunch. You can tell cleanliness and attention to detail actually matter here.
Our waitress (Kili) was amazing. She truly made the experience exceptional. She took the time to walk us through the menu, explained dishes clearly and enthusiastically, and made thoughtful recommendations without rushing us. Service felt genuine, friendly, and personal and not scripted. Everything came out at exactly the right time, which is rare during brunch and speaks volumes about how well the team works together.
The food was outstanding. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully executed. Each dish felt intentional and well-balanced, and nothing felt rushed or sloppy. It was the kind of brunch where you actually get to enjoy each course instead of feeling like plates are being thrown at the table.
Overall, Sarto absolutely nails it: incredible atmosphere, impeccable service, perfect pacing, and a welcoming vibe that makes you want to stay longer and come back soon. Easily one of the best brunch experiences I’ve had — highly recommend.

My family had a WONDERFUL rehearsal dinner here. The food was delicious from the apps to the entrees. It was served family style, which made it easy for everyone to try everything. We love the cocktails here, but chose a red and white wine for guests to choose from, which were excellent. Service was fast, and we felt very taken care of. Our party was small enough (28 people) that we could sit on the upstairs level, which was more private and quiet. It was easy to communicate with them to plan this event, and they were very mindful of allergies. It was also easy to valet park! It was a perfect night to kick off the wedding weekend.

We had a terrible experience at this place. We ordered the Cacio e Pepe and the server asked us whether we would like to include scallops because that is “the most popular option.” We decided that would be a good idea since the menu stated that “Add Scallop” is $8. However, our bill came back as $50 for the dish because apparently the scallop is $8 a piece. We checked the menu and there’s no indication that the scallop is a per piece price.
After contacting the manager, the manager insisted that the scallop is $8 a piece and gave us an attitude. We said that the menu is confusing but she ended up charging us $8 per piece anyway and saying we can just leave a review then.
I have attached the photo below for anyone’s reference. But I would highly NOT RECOMMEND this restaurant. Pasta was fine but the general managerial attitude was horrible.

My wife and I recently had our wedding reception at Sarto, and I can’t speak highly enough about the experience. The food was exceptional, the atmosphere was perfect, and the staff and service were excellent. I have to give a special thank you to Carly, who helped us to coordinate the event.
Sarto was also very accommodating to the special dietary requirements of some of our guests, and really went the extra mile in making sure that they had safe and delicious food options to enjoy with the rest of our party.
Since our wedding, we’ve been getting compliments and feedback almost daily from our guests who raved about their meals and experience at Sarto. They’ve made us lifelong fans who will continue singing their praises to anyone who will listen.
(All of the food was great, but we give our special recommendation to the pesto chicken pasta and the brown butter cake!)
