Nosara Seafood is an absolute gem. Emel, the owner, was incredibly attentive and gracious the kind of host who makes you feel like you’ve wandered into a friend’s kitchen at just the right moment. He brought out a special fried shrimp that was out of this world, and the ceviche was truly world-class.
My mahi mahi came with a homemade passion-fruit spice that I’ve never experienced before bright and fruity, but with enough backbone and heat to stand up to the fish perfectly. It was one of those flavors you keep thinking about long after the plate is clean.
If you’re looking for a genuine local experience with exceptional menu offerings, this place is a must. Highly recommend.

We were fortunate to find this small, locally run restaurant in Nosara, as it’s off the main ” tourist” track in the main town in Nosara, where the locals shop.
We were immediately greeted by Emil, the owner, who was so charming and welcoming! We followed his advice and ordered the whole snapper. It came with salad and patacones, all of which were so, so fresh and perfectly prepared!
Unfortunately we didn’t find Emil’s place until the end of our time here, because I would definitely be back, probably multiple times! He was sweet, and obviously everything was prepared with great care. We were definitely made welcome, and left the restaurant to a chorus of well wishes!
You need to go here! Oh, one word of caution: bring cash ( either Colones or US dollars) as they don’t take cards… we all had margaritas and whole snapper ( one person had giant grilled prawns) and our total bill came to 63000 Colones for the 4 of us)

We finally got to try this local establishment and were very impressed with both the service and the seafood. We were immediately greeted, seated and offered drinks. The bar is limited, but the basic drinks worked for pairing. The seafood is delicious and well worth the price. The co-owners were polite, and full of story and smiles.

Super fresh tasting sea bass ceviche! Fish is fresh everyday they said so the variety of fish will depend on the catch im of the day. The seafood soup was also delicious—it was a nice broth with a few mussels that came in it.
I will definitely be back for more!

Fun local spot with amazingly fresh seafood! Their ceviche is delicious and a must try. I’ve been thinking about their whole fish weeks later so if it’s on the menu…get it!

Super fresh seafood prepared simply and very well. The full menu is not always available as the owner only wants fresh offerings. It is definitely a spot for locals and tourists. I took one off from the atmosphere only for the constant road noise, though the dirt bikes and tuk-tuks might be a great part of the experience! Definitely try it and get out away from the resort/tourist spots.
