A great addition to the area. Truly phenomenal Indian cuisine. This was my second time coming for the Sunday brunch buffet, the offerings were all different from my first visit, and very reasonably priced. The vegetarian and meat options offered were not only impressive in variety but also executed to perfection. Hard to select a favorite when everything sampled was delicious, the saag paneer & shrimp biryani were notably fabulous. The dessert options and drinks a perfect touch to compliment the fantastic levels of spice and heat. The service is quick, attentive & friendly. The music is a wonderful atmospheric addition. Can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. Looking forward to the next time already.

Empire Biryani & Grille is an absolute gem in Johnston. The food is consistently flavorful, authentic, and beautifully prepared. The biryani is fragrant and perfectly spiced, with tender meat and generous portions. Their curries are rich and comforting, and the appetizers are a great way to start the meal.

The atmosphere is modern and inviting, and the staff is friendly, attentive, and happy to offer recommendations. Whether dining in or ordering takeout, the quality is always top-notch. If you’re looking for excellent Indian cuisine with bold flavors and great service, Empire Biryani & Grille is a must-visit.

Best tikka masala, and best mango chicken I have ever had. Staff is so sweet and nice. Food is excellent. I just wish they had chai tea and salads to go with the meals. Other than that AMAZING thank you Empire Biryani. Such a nice bar area where you can play chess ♟️!

We went around noon. It’s cute and rustic inside. The workers were kind, patient, and helpful. The food was very flavorful! I had the tomato dal (spicy), butter naan, mango lassi, and tikka skewers. I tried my dad’s mango shrimp dish and that was delicious as well. I highly recommend trying this restaurant. Apparently they do buffets on Sundays. Will definitely be back with my family 🙂

A True Gem in Johnston — Incredible Food, Beautiful Bar, and Perfect Event Space!

This Indian restaurant at 198 Putnam Pike, Johnston, RI is hands-down one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had! The moment you walk in, the warm hospitality, inviting atmosphere, and mouthwatering aromas set the tone for an unforgettable meal.

The food is absolutely outstanding — butter chicken, tikka masala, garlic naan, and biryani all cooked to perfection with rich, authentic flavors. Every bite tastes fresh and homemade, and the presentation is beautiful.

The bar area is a real highlight — stylish, comfortable, and perfect if you want to unwind with a drink before or after your meal. Great selection of cocktails, wines, and beers, and the bartenders are friendly and attentive.

And if you’re planning an event, they have a spacious banquet hall that can comfortably host 70–80 people — ideal for birthdays, family gatherings, business parties, or any special occasion.

Everything about this place shines — the food, the service, and the atmosphere.

Five stars all the way — Johnston finally has the Indian restaurant it deserves!

Empire Biryani is hands down the best Indian restaurant in RI. The servers are polite, responsive, and personable. Picture Indian rustic with a touch of industrial ambiance. Five TV monitors play sports. Contemporary Indian music with a hip-hop vibe. They have a bar with an assortment of beer, wine, and cocktails.

The Food
Lots of variety. Chicken, lamb, and veggie dishes. They also take care with their garnish to decorate the plates.

It’s our go-to place on Fridays for delicious Indian food. We’ve been at least 7 times in 6 months.

I highly recommend it.

I had the pleasure of trying this spot for date night, and it did not disappoint. The food was incredible, especially the butter chicken and naan. What truly made the experience a 10/10, though, was our server, she was so kind, attentive, and continually checked in to make sure everything exceeded our expectations.

I’ve always loved Indian food, but it was my boyfriend’s first time trying it, and he genuinely enjoyed it. We’ll definitely be back!

Every dish was 10/10 from the shrimp with garlic sauce, to the grilled tandoori pomfret, and lastly the garlic naan with shrimp tikka masala and channa saag. The mint mojito was also delicious. Will definitely recommend to friends and will be back again!

This low rating is not about the taste or quality of the food, but about the “curry of the day” that I received in my veg lunch box. It was my first time trying it, and I was surprised to see **daal** served as the curry of the day. In my opinion, daal does not really qualify as a curry—especially when it is the only curry included in the box.

I was expecting a vegetable curry or paneer curry rather than just daal. Since the lunch box includes only one curry to be eaten with both bread and rice, I would appreciate it if daal is not served as the sole curry option in this meal.
