This restaurant is located in a beautiful area of Sierra Madre. It feels like mom’s kitchen. The food is freshly made and the portions are perfect. The coffee, breakfast and pastry were delicious..

Wow that was awesome discovery.. This place is up in a hidden part of the mountains.. You drive through narrow roads to this place, it’s in a house and the food is delicious.. I might come back again to try a different dish..

Hidden away in the hills north of I-210, this place is oozed with coziness. We came here for its ambience and the beautiful location, and walked away with really delicious food. Since other reviewers were raving about its bacons, so naturally I had to order a BLT. The bacon was indeed excellent and the whole BLT was by far one of the best I’ve had. My wife’s eggs Benedict was also very good. The sitting area was full of collectibles from the bygone days. It was an immensely enjoyable experience.

Super cute breakfast/lunch spot, with dog-friendly outdoor seating by a babbling brook. Friendly service, good food, and a very Topanga vibe.

This little diner in Sierra Madre is the true definition of a local hidden gem. I have known about it for quite some time, even though I live over in West LA and had been tracking it since it was closed during the fires. I am working through a list of all diners in LA County and Mary’s was recommended to me. It’s tucked up near the mountains in Sierra Madre surrounded by homes and literally you drive on a dirt road to get to the restaurant. It’s right next to a ravine with flowing water and when I parked, I honestly thought to myself this does not even remind me of LA, but in a good way. It’s quite small on the inside, and this place is full of locals more than tourists. You order at the counter and then they bring the food to you. The interior is a little bit eclectic with all sorts of memorabilia of different types all around the restaurant. Our server was very polite, even though the food items came out pretty slowly and they forgot my coffee, but still everything was worth the wait. Parking can be very tricky in this area, they do have an outdoor parking lot right across from the restaurant, and I was able to find a space and parked perfectly straight, but when I came out to my car, which is brand new and maybe part of the reason, someone poured coffee all over my windshield, which I thought was kind of weird and hillbilly-esque. Guess mountain towns don’t like paying visitors?

They actually have a pretty extensive menu with a lot of great options on it. For my first visit, I chose my favorite breakfast dish, which is Eggs Benedict. The ham was actually much better than you usually get and you can tell they actually buy in smaller batches because the ingredients are more premium than other places. I honestly was really happy with it. I felt the pricing was fair and just getting to this location is reason enough to visit it, especially if you are not from this area. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great breakfast option, especially to anyone that is in or near the Sierra Madre area.

One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in LA. Almost fearful to promote this spot because it’s such a cute hidden gem!

I want to eat here everyday and live here even more so. Super lovely patio seating for a weekend morning, and smells like the best bacon ever when you walk in.

The food was perfect, coffee was just right, and the employees were so smiley and compassionate.

I even began an attempt at creating a spot in my backyard called “Mary’s Place” but unfortunately it will hardly compare.

When we arrived we thought that this wouldn’t be a great place but am so glad we stayed and ate. It’s in a stunning area, very cool and shaded. The place itself is very basic, almost a canteen type feel. But once you are inside, the friendliness of the staff overwhelms you. They were lovely. You have to order food at the counter, but then they bring your order to you. Coffee condiments are self serve, tables are covered in brown paper. All of this doesn’t give you hope for a great breakfast. But the food when it arrived was wonderful and fresh and delicious. It wasn’t oversized or fried. It was beautiful fresh food cooked really well. The Benedict was the best we have had in USA. And the poached eggs was great.

Pro Tip: If you can carpool, do it. This place is nearly impossible when it comes to parking. People even double-park behind other customers or the residents whom live there.

This charming little eatery has been operating since 1922, though it’s changed ownership since the original. It’s a single business tucked away into the woods where the rest of the neighborhood is residential and the roads are narrow. I believe this used to be a resident in which the original owner converted the front house into a market and cafe, which is why it’s so out of place.

This place is quite a hidden gem at the base of the mountains. I only found it because of Yelpers (yeah, go Yelp community!) when I was looking for a spot close to my girlfriend that morning to meet up for breakfast.

Mary’s Market is adorable. It’s kind of all over the place in terms of decor- it’s a combination of kitschy, vintage-inspired, whimsical and totally eclectic. You feel welcome the moment you step into the cafe. The employees are nice, helpful and knowledgable about the food and menu.

The pictures speak for themselves. There are flowers upon flowers everywhere, mini fairy gardens and homegrown herbs, fruits and veggies on the property. The food is pretty good but the savory stuff is a little too salty for me (I’m not big on sodium). You order right when you walk in and pay there. Drinks are self-serve, nothing fancy- either bottled drinks or you get a mug where you go to the coffee station and DIY. There is table service for the rest of your meal. There is outdoor seating both at the front entrance as well as the back of the restaurant because there are not that many tables inside.

I hope to go again soon. It was a very pleasant first experience. I couldn’t stop taking photos.
