Casa Susanna is Chef Efrén Hernández’s take on Mexican cuisine sourcing his family history and the abundance of the Hudson Valley. Through our masa program we make all of our tortillas in-house and offer a regularly changing seasonal menu of dishes with the best ingredients from local farmers, ranchers and fishermen. Our version of modern Mexican food is made with sharing in mind so please order for the table, get lots of tortillas, and taste different dishes!

Weekend trip to the Catskills for wedding planning, looking for a couple of nice dinners. Found Casa Susanna listed many times for great NY eats and its didn’t disappoint. The masa program here is turning out some incredible tortillas and tamales. Recommend all of the masa dishes. The smoked lamb barbacoa is incredible and the pork belly tamal is ridiculous. Both just melt in your mouth. The interior is warm and comfortable. Eat in the lobby area if it’s winter, you’ll have your meal basically by the fireplace. And the service is top notch, Chef Hernandez served and explained many of the dishes himself, he seems such a friendly person. Overall, this is the best Mexican food I’ve had in NY to date and also one of the best restaurants in NY, regardless of cuisine. Just a great experience, wish this pace was closer to home!

First time for dinner tonight. Beautoful artistic presentation with even more amazing flavor. one of the most flavorful meals I’ve ever had. We tried the Smoked lamb barbacoa, beef tongue, and Tamal Tonto (heirloom yellow corn), Pork Belly, Fermented Mole Negro, Crema, Pickled Habanero Red Onions .. As well as the Tlacoyo (heirloom blue corn),
Feta Cheese, Sweet Potato, Salsa Negra and the Beef tartare. .. honestly everything blew our minds. nice portions. we had to try the chocolate gelato with puffed rice and hazelnut milk ice chips which was to die for . the service was personable, kind and attentive . cant wait to come back soon.
Thanks Casa Susanna!!

Casa Susanna is a must when traveling to Hudson or the Catskills. Some of the best modern yet homey Mexican food around. We dined here for both dinner and brunch during our trip from NYC and cannot wait to go back again. Everything we ordered was perfect, especially the masa, beef tartare, mushrooms, duck, and breakfast tacos. The team was so helpful and walked us through the menu, answering any questions along the way. The cocktails and NA drinks were great as well. Special mention to Zen, Sally, and Micah for taking such good care of us. We’ll be back soon!!!

Visited Catskills for my birthday and I HAD to come here. Mainly to support a Latin modern restaurant. You have to make a reservation in advance. The ambiance and aesthetic of it gives me camp pulp fiction vibes. It was pretty late when we got here so we couldn’t see anything outside of the window which added to the vibe. We started off with mocktails, The Spice girl (deep red), which had a hibiscus pomegranate undertone. The real star was the Face Plant (green), which was more of a lime coconut flavor. Not at all overwhelming and very refreshing. They did their thing with that one! My friend and I both ordered the lamb which was good and it came with warm tortillas. The appetizers are creative. I decided to go with the Pistachio tamal for dessert per my servers recommendation and it was . I loved it! It was steamed and not too sweet and melted in my mouth. Go here if you want to be bougie lol

I came here for my birthday a year or so ago and I’m literally going back next week because of how amazing it was. The food was so delicious, fresh, and you can tell everything is homemade. Such a unique restaurant, beautiful atmosphere, and overall just so good. If you’re ever in the area or want to take the trip from nyc, it’s so worth it.

Came here for an early dinner on a Saturday night. We had a reservation and arrived early. They didn’t let us come in but were told we could wait at one of the tables outside. They didn’t make us feel welcome or even bring us water to drink outside while we were waiting, so the customer service initially seemed lacking . Once we were able to go in, everyone was nice and hospitable. The drinks were strong and delicious. The food was very interesting and flavorful. We had the rib eye, asian pear dish that is perfectly sweet with a dash of spice which I loved, bok choy, pork belly, endive salad, a dish with beans and cheese, and maybe a couple of other things. Pretty pricey but good. The steak had a lot of fat on it but was still enjoyable. All in all, a fun dinner out and I’m glad we came to check it out!

The food can only be described as magical. Honestly one of the best Mexican food meals I’ve ever had. I highly recommend going back over and over again to try all of their offerings as they change through the year. Hard to pick favorites, we had the duck breast black shallot mole the squash blossom and can’t stop dreaming about those dishes. I wish I could swim in the black shallot mole.
